Information and Support Group for Patients and Caregivers of Deep Brain Stimulation for Movement Disorders. John Carpenter Freeway, Irving, TX.

We meet on the third Friday of every month from 1:30-3:00 PM in the Skypass Group building at 950 W.

This coming Friday, June 20th is the next meeting of DFW DBS Support group starring Erin Smith, Occupational Therapist and Certified Hand Therapist who will be speaking on the Role of Occupational Therapy in Individuals with Tremors. We are a hybrid meeting with both in person and Zoom arrangements. Please RSVP at [email protected]

Howdy from DFW DBS Support Group Moderator, Lori Mays. Our June meeting is Friday, June 20th, 2025, at 1:00-2:00ish CST USA and Canada. The topic is, "The Role of Occupational Therapy In Individuals With Tremors" given by Erin Smith, an amazing person and great speaker. Just check out her credentials on the flyer below.
She has worked with individuals pre and post DBS therapy with a variety of movement disorders. I personally can vouch for her as an Occupational Therapist as I did OT with her for 6-8 weeks for a fractured ring finger. She saved me from joint surgery and that's always a blessing.
As always, I need your RSVPs with your email addresses to send out the ZOOM links by the Wednesday (June 18th) before the meeting. PLEASE NOTE: my outlook account has failed and I am using my gmail account on the flyer below.

Hello group,

Despite yesterdays initial technical difficulties with the sound on Zoom, we were able to record the session with Dr. Pouratian. If anyone wants the recording link, please email me at [email protected] and I will send it out to you. It was an awesome lecture and we are so thankful to those who persevered and stayed with us through the silence until we used Dr. Pouratian's computer to do the Zoom. Anyone who bailed and still wants the recording link, please do not hesitate to reach out to me.

Friday July 12th at 1:00-2:00ish PM CST DFW DBS support group will be hosting Dr. Pouratian, UTSW chair of neurosurgery who will speak on when is the right time to have DBS surgery? We are no longer requiring registration for the meeting. Instead, I will send out Zoom links to all who have joined my email list. To do that all you have to do is reach out to me at [email protected] with your email address and I will add it to my Zoom email list. The Zoom link for this meeting will go out July 10th, so please get your emails to me before then.
