WHAT IF ONE CONVERSATION COULD CHANGE A STUDENT’S FUTURE?
Today, that conversation happened at Amasege High School.
MINTO FOUNDATION was honored to host a mentorship session led by Simon Mose (Grade 11 😎) and James Mose (Grade 8 😎), two brilliant young men who are home in Kenya for their summer break
And here’s the beauty of it:
A mentor can be of ANY age.
When young people lead, students listen differently. They see themselves. They believe, “If he can do it, I can too.” Mentorship is not about seniority—it’s about lived experience, courage, and the willingness to pour into others.
These young mentors didn’t just talk about studying abroad—they spoke about everyday life, experiences, challenges, perseverance, discipline, innovation, and believing in yourself even when the odds seem impossible.

Simon recently emerged 2nd (Silver award) nationally at the Science, Technology, and Innovation Fair in the United States. From a young student with a dream to national recognition, his journey reminded every learner that greatness begins with courage 💪🏾, consistency 📈, and hard work.
WHY THIS MOMENT MATTERS EVEN MORE
For African diaspora children, sharing their experiences is powerful.
It bridges continents.
It builds identity.
It shows students in Kenya that someone who looks like them, comes from a community like theirs, and shares their story can compete and excel on the global stage.
Their voices make possibility feel real.
Today’s session wasn’t about careers. 👩🏽💻💼
It was about hope. 🙏🏾
It was about possibility. 💭
It was about showing every student that their dreams are valid and achievable.
The future is brighter when we invest in young minds.
