Sophia, one of our students from Hospital, was born with spina bifida and has endured multiple surgeries that left her struggling with anxiety and fear. Through TLC’s workshops, she learned that while she couldn’t change her circumstances, she could change her perspective. Like a kaleidoscope, she discovered that even life’s hardest moments can come together to create strength, hope, and beauty.

Just like a popsicle, good vibes are built in layers. Meet your four happy hormones and learn how to boost them this summer!

Dopamine (reward): Set a small goal this summer and work to achieve it (ex. surf once a week until Labor Day)🤍

Oxytocin (love): Show your people how much you appreciate them. Sharing and receiving love is the best mood booster.🤗

Serotonin (mood stabilizer): Summer schedules can get crazy busy. Don’t skip the zzzz’s. Getting good sleep keeps your serotonin levels optimal. 😴

Endorphins (pain reliver): Get your body moving. Go for a swim, a hike, a bike ride, and soak up the sun. 🚲 🏊

Our lesson “I Am Connected” is all about recognizing the good in others — and most importantly, the good in yourself. 💙

Labels can be limiting, and people are far too complex to be defined by just one thing. Through open discussion and reflection, students challenge negative stereotypes and misconceptions while exploring their own biases. The lesson promotes empathy, self-awareness, and a deeper understanding of others’ unique experiences and differences.✨

Connection starts with seeing the value in ourselves and each other.
