Rotary International is a global umbrella of passionate community leaders brought together in an effort to bring peace and understanding to the world. Rotaract Clubs are part of this effort at the college level, where our efforts start at the community level but have no restrictions on its power in outreach services. Rotaract Clubs have access to the many resources of Rotary International, as well as the administrative support that help Rotaract Clubs thrive. Just like many other chapters throughout various colleges, Rotaract of UC Irvine focuses on service, both locally and internationally, fellowship, and professional development. The club combines leadership and professional development with humanitarian service. Rotaract of UCI is sponsored by the Newport-Irvine Rotary Club and the Irvine Rotary Club. Its beginnings here on our UCI campus came in the Spring of 2009, when 50 Charter members were brought together under our slogan, “Service Above Self. Together, our mission is to bring change to the community and allow UCI students the opportunity to become more civically engaged, while growing as young professionals.

One of our favorite projects!

Most emergencies don't wait for ambulances.

Severe bleeding can be fatal within minutes. And in that window, the only person who can help — is whoever is already there.

That's why Rotary Club of Irvine brings Stop the Bleed training directly to Irvine high schools, in partnership with Irvine PD and OC Fire Authority.

The result isn't just a skill. It's a mindset shift — from bystander to first responder.
We believe every young person in this community should have that shift.

The first of our Stop the Bleed projects was with Newport Fire Department and Newport Beach CERT volunteers where we taught the public how to prevent death from bleeding and also taught a CPR class. Thanks to Newport Beach Fire Department and CERT and the Hearts and Hands event for inviting us. UCI Rotaract president elect shared the Rotaract vision with high school students.

UCI Rotaract started the Rotary year with a project benefitting EMT drivers with care packages filled with goodies and snacks for ambulance drivers working 24 hour shifts. UCI Rotaractors Samantha Hung and Anthony Bonfa were busy assembling packages which were dropped up to Falck Ambulance.
