VnHOPE Alliance

VnHOPE Alliance Every generation has a story to tell. Our story started in 2006, when the late Mr. This was the beginning of the Summer Service Camp or SSC.

Our mission is to provide much needed healthcare to the underserved populations in Vietnam and to mentor, nurture and train the next generation of medical humanitarian who will serve in Vietnam or anywhere in the world. Nguyen Duc Quang came up with an idea to mentor young students in providing humanitarian services to the underserved of Vietnam. As a musician, journalist, scout master and youth m

entor, he was passionate about guiding the younger generation to a life of service to the needy. Its goals have been:

1. To mentor and train the next generation of medical humanitarians

2. To provide healthcare to the underserved populace of Vietnam and perhaps other parts of the world. With support and collaboration from Project Vietnam Foundation and its president Dr. Quynh Kieu, the first SSC trip was held in 2006 in South Vietnam. In each subsequent summer until 2016, a group of approximately 100+ volunteers would provide much needed services based on these two founding principles. Each summer camp comprised of approximately 60 students from high school up to professional school level. They were from many parts of the world but mostly from the United States and Canada. The students were supported clinically by healthcare professionals including physicians of many specialties, dentists, pharmacists, optometrists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and registered nurses. The camp logistics were also supported by many crucial non-medical volunteers. The summer mission usually collaborated with other non-profit organizations in Vietnam. The health clinics were organized in both rural and urban locations of Vietnam. Each summer mission served approximately 3500 adult patients and children over a two week period. SSC provided health screening, medical, dental and vision care to the patients. Medications, glasses, medical equipments and health education were also provided to as many underserved Vietnamese as possible. As the camp grew in size and complexity, Project Vietnam Foundation found it much more challenging to organize and conduct both an annual March and June mission since they were only 3 months apart. In August of 2016, Project Vietnam Foundation and the core members of the Summer Service Camp mutually agreed to split into two separate entities to give each mission its well deserved attention. Project Vietnam Foundation will now concentrate on conducting the March mission and associated training projects. The new organization, VnHOPE Alliance, with the support of Dr. Kieu will focus entirely on continuing the success of the Summer Service Camp. Our core group of dedicated and experienced summer volunteers realized that the camp’s mission and purpose are too important to allow it to end. We recognized that there is much more work to be done in Vietnam and we are convinced that this can be accomplished by continuing to nurture the next generation of humanitarians. VnHOPE Alliance is working hard on planning for its inaugural medical mission to Vietnam in 2017. In many ways, we do not think of the upcoming mission as our first summer service camp, but rather as the continuation of our previous volunteer work in Vietnam. Therefore, we would like to invite all past summer volunteers and welcome new volunteers to join us because there are many more stories waiting to be told and shared.

Hellooo :)

My name is Jasmine and I’ll be one of your Student Directors for our 2026 VnHOPE trip! For those who don’t know me, I’m a Concordia University Irvine grad and studied kinesiology (human performance/movement). I’m continuing my interests in medicine by working as an MA before applying to med school, and of course being part of VnHOPE 🤓

Outside of work, I’m probably binging a kdrama, trying out new food/matcha spots (yes those two drinks in this photo were both mine), or losing my mind over my favorite sports teams. Nancy and Victor can confirm the latter…

I am most excited to come back on my 3rd trip and show you all how we thrive on continuity. Year after year, VnHOPE continues to create long lasting friendships and memories I will forever cherish. I hope you all get to experience the same this upcoming summer 🫶🏻

Hi! I’m Victor, one of your Student Director for VnHOPE this year.
I’ve been part of VnHOPE for five years now, starting back in high school and staying involved through college and my post bacc. I studied Biology at SMU, completed a post-bacc at Temple, and I’m currently prepping for the MCAT. In my free time you’ll find me golfing, gaming, or playing pickleball. Excited to welcome everyone both new and returning!

Hello everyone!

My name is Nancy, and I am one of your Student Directors for the 2026 VnHOPE Summer Medical Mission! I graduated in with a Public Health degree and went on to do a Post Bacc at UCLA :)) I was born and raised in Orange County and am currently taking a gap year working as a dental assistant and applying to PA programs.

When I am not busy with work/school I like to spend my time with my friends grabbing a matcha 🍵 (shocker ik), being outdoors exploring nature 🏞️, finding stray cats to take in and care for (jk this was only once), taking film photography, and crafting little projects from sewing makeup pouches to felt art!

This will be my 3rd year with VnHOPE and each year I am excited to come back and see new and familiar faces and work together with everyone to help out communities in Vietnam. Everyone in VnHOPE is incredibly down to earth and inspiring and I can’t wait to meet everyone this year! Please reach out if you have any questions 💌
