This is happening, Aliso Viejo!! Great job Orange County Mountain Bike Association

On 6/17 the Aliso Viejo City Council voted unanimously to authorize staff to negotiate site and construction proposals for a new pump track.

As an advocate for places to ride, Orange County Mountain Bike Association is very much in favor of this project. To respond to some recent dialogue on social media:
- park in lieu funds were previously set aside to build a track, these monies can only be used on new recreation amenities
- the city is shielded from liability on facilities such as this via CA Recreation Use Statutes (Civil & Government)
- the recommended material is rubberized asphalt, this allows for flow skateboard, roller skate, scooter and pedal bikes
- similar existing pump tracks have demonstrated very low operating and maintenance costs
- pump tracks are an awesome complement to trail systems, a safe sanctioned place to build skills as a community
- all proposed site are currently unused AVCA fields, no existing sport or facility will be displaced

Great job Orange County Mountain Bike Association!!

Big win in Laguna Beach. The modular pump track was approved through the consent calendar with no opposition pulled for discussion.

What this means:
The City will move forward with a 2-week pump track installation at the Community Recreation Center (CRC) this July, with the option to purchase it afterward using already allocated funds.

What’s next:
We’re pushing for the City to purchase the track and keep it in the community long enough to clearly demonstrate demand for a permanent pump track.
