What a day in Ironton with the Armfolk Yerevan Group so far!

The morning started with a guided hike at U.S. Forest Service - Wayne National Forest along the Rock House Trail, where the group learned about our area's iron history and took in the natural sandstone formations.

From there, they headed to the Lawrence County Ohio Museum and Historical Society for a tour and lunch graciously catered by Frankly Stellar Events & Catering. The group got to see artifacts from the region's history and learn about our very own Nannie Kelley Wright, which tied back beautifully to the Vesuvius iron furnace they had seen earlier at Wayne National Forest.

A huge thank you to Wayne National Forest, the Lawrence County Museum, and Frankly Stellar Catering for opening their doors and sharing what makes our region special.

The day continues tonight with a free public performance at 7 p.m. at the Ro-Na Theater in downtown Ironton. Come join us!

Tomorrow night, Ironton welcomes Armfolk!

The Armfolk Yerevan Group, a talented company of young dancers from Yerevan, Armenia, takes the stage tomorrow at 7 p.m. at the newly renovated Ro-Na Theater in downtown Ironton.

This performance is part of the 2026 International Youth Cultural Exchange Tour, which invites cultural performing arts groups from around the world to represent their nations on an inspiring U.S. tour. These young artists are sharing their country's heritage, experiencing American culture, and building lasting international connections through dance and performance, and Ironton is part of that story.

The performance is free and open to everyone, and we want to see a packed house! Come early, walk around historic downtown, grab dinner at one of our great local restaurants, and bring the whole family. Filling the Ro-Na is one of the best ways we can welcome these young artists to our community and show them what Ironton is all about.

Thanks to Friends of Ironton, the Ironton Council for the Arts, the Kiwanis Club of Greater Ironton, Ohio, and a grant from the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio – Lawrence County Community Foundation for making this special evening possible.

See you tomorrow night!

Rotarian and Lawrence County Prosecutor Brigham Anderson gave an in-depth overview of the Prosecutor’s Office, the current state of law enforcement in our county, and the many challenges and successes experienced during his tenure. Brigham is currently halfway through his fourth term as prosecutor and has served in the Prosecutor’s Office for 22 years, beginning as an assistant prosecutor.

Brigham shared the tremendous growth in criminal cases over the years, from approximately 100 felony indictments in his first year to more than 600 last year, along with over 5,000 misdemeanor cases handled annually. He discussed the devastating impact fentanyl and m**h continue to have on communities and emphasized that nearly 95% of his work involves drug-related crimes.

One of the most encouraging parts of the presentation was hearing about the success of the county’s drug abuse deflection program. Low-level, non-violent offenders who commit to sobriety and rehabilitation can avoid criminal charges entirely. In the past two years, 35 individuals have successfully completed the program, with only two repeat offenders.

Brigham also highlighted the importance of prevention through the Ambassador’s Program in local schools, where student leaders work to encourage peers to avoid drug use before it begins. He discussed efforts to combat child sexual abuse, the importance of community partnerships, and the challenges surrounding mental health and homelessness.

Most importantly, Brigham reminded us that Lawrence County remains safer than many surrounding areas, and we are fortunate to have dedicated public servants working tirelessly for our community.

It was clear to everyone in attendance that Brigham is passionate about Lawrence County and deeply committed to making a positive difference.

We had the pleasure of visiting Burlington Elementary School today to present 3rd and 5th grade students with dictionaries and thesauruses—valuable tools that will support learning, reading, and vocabulary growth.

The staff and students were incredibly welcoming, and we are truly grateful for the opportunity to give back through this meaningful community service project. Investing in education and supporting our local students is som**hing we are proud to be a part of, and we look forward to continuing to make a positive impact in our community!

What a privilege it was to serve lunch to nearly 100 Lawrence County students at SWAC-Southern Wayne Advocacy Council's inaugural Lawrence County Youth Environmental Stewardship Initiative Wednesday at Lake Vesuvius! 🍕🌲

Students from across the county spent the day in U.S. Forest Service - Wayne National Forest exploring wildflowers, testing water quality, studying soil, and giving back to the forest right in their own backyard. The Rotary Club of Ironton was proud to fuel them up for the afternoon with Skeeto's Pizza!

Events like this are exactly what community partnership looks like. Thanks to everyone who made this incredible day possible. 💚

Rotarian John Ferguson shared with the group about his recently self-published book, Masquerade. He spoke about the motivation behind the book and the personal journey that inspired it.

From Hiding to Healing is his story, woven with insights from Scripture and therapy, reflecting on the grace found in becoming honest, vulnerable, and whole again.

Be sure to look for this special book on Amazon for $15.99 plus shipping.

Congratulations, John Ferguson, on this meaningful accomplishment!
