🐣 Have you ever observed a momma bird taking care of her little ones? 🪺

Watching animal parents and their care for their offspring can help us to understand God’s care towards us in a deeper way. 🦅 Here in Deuteronomy the allegory of an eagle caring for her young ones is used to illustrate God's care for His people. His people who instead of trusting His guidance doubted His provision at every step. His people who instead of appreciating and acknowledging His love exclaimed at every obstacle that God had abandoned them and left them to die in the wilderness. Verse 10 actually even says that He was keeping them like the apple of His eye.
🧡 These verses are applicable today: in fact His love for you exceeds any parental ties as tender and loving as they might be. 💛 Let us appreciate and acknowledge His love and care. This wilderness journey was for their good. They refused to see that and murmured and complained all along the way. A simple way that we can show our love and appreciation for His continued watch care is to not murmur and complain even when the path seems difficult. Open your eyes dear reader and you will see the path you tread is marked by bloodstained footprints. 👣 Your Savior has walked this path before you and will never lead you astray. When the journey becomes too difficult He will bear you on His wings just as the mother eagle did.

😴 Do you struggle at times to get good and peaceful rest? 😴

This verse in Psalm 4 became personal to me when as a child I was fearful of falling asleep in my own room. Instead of dreading the silence, I started to claim this verse every night, asking God to fulfill what He promised also in my life. 🙏 So if you can relate with my younger self, open your Bible and pray these words. There is power in God’s word and His promises are waiting to be claimed. Take Him by His word and be blessed in the process of learning to trust Him more and more.

Have you ever felt certain that God was leading you a certain way, just to realize that you had been leaning on your own understanding? 🤔

If your answer is yes, be assured that you are in good company. Acts chapter 7 tells us how Moses thought that he would deliver his brethren from Egyptian oppression. Everything seemed so obvious and clearly providential: the circumstances around his birth, growing up in the palace, receiving highest civil but also military training… and the list could go on. From a human perspective God was setting everything into place for him to free God’s people from bo***ge and slavery. 💪 He is described as being “learned in all the wisdom of the Egyptians” as well as “mighty in words and in deeds”. But instead of trusting fully on God’s way and timing of bringing deliverance, he took it into his own hands. Leaning on his own understanding, he found himself in a big mess - he had taken someone's life and was running for his own life. From a human perspective all was lost, but God was not yet done with Moses. For 40 years he had to go through a wilderness experience, alone with God learning total dependence on Him. 🙏
May this be a reminder for us to live by Solomon's inspired counsel to TRUST GOD FULLY and in ALL our ways to ACKNOWLEDGE HIM who knows best how to direct our paths.

Tip #6 💪 Practice Deciding Things!

Have you met someone that struggles making up their mind, vacillating between ideas or options never sure where to go? 🤷 It is a draining and frustrating experience to anyone involved, especially to the one trying to make a decision. The good news is you can practice to make up your mind more readily and through that strengthen your will in the long run. ☺️

❓How can you do it❓

1️⃣Consider the matter & weigh the facts
2️⃣Right away come to a conclusion
3️⃣Stay firm with your choice, “willing to change only when the contrary facts are overwhelming”

You might find it hard to believe this but “it is often better to make a mistake, than to sit on the fence of indecision!” (Chalmers, Healing the Broken Brain, p. 24)

Even in the Bible we can see warnings against indecisiveness. One such warning can be read in 1.Kings 18. Here we are shown a nation that is attempting to call themselves God’s people while serving heathen God’s. In verse 20 God calls them out through His prophet saying “How long will you falter between two opinions?” and asking them to make a choice either for or against Him.
There is a deep lesson for us in it. You might think, does it matter if I struggle to make up my mind between what I want to eat or what I want to do in my free time? While it might seem like a trivial thing that habit of indecisiveness can be and often is carried into our spiritual life. If we don’t cultivate decision in little things we will not be able to make a good choice in aspects that truly matter.

“Every youth needs to cultivate decision. A divided state of the will is a snare, and will be the ruin of many youth. Be firm, else you will be left with your house, or character, built upon a sandy foundation.” (My Life Today, 73.4)

💪So start practicing today! God will bless your efforts! 🙏

🙏 How do you respond when you see your need for help? 🙏

David is very transparent here, he acknowledges how he feels but he doesn’t stay there nor does he wallow in sadness or self pity. Instead he immediately turns away from his situation towards God. He knows this is where he can receive help and true deliverance, even asking God not to delay His divine intervention. So when you see your helplessness and see how desperately in need of deliverance you are, choose to look away from your circumstances. Choose to direct your eyes and focus on Him who is mighty and more than able to intervene.
Remember that “Our great need is itself an argument and pleads most eloquently in our behalf.” (Steps to Christ 95.2)

🤷‍♀️How do you deal with others after they have done you wrong? 🤷
😠 Do you struggle with holding a grudge?
🤕 Are you tempted to bring up past mistakes when being hurt again?

In Psalm 103 we can see a beautiful example of how God handles our mistakes and sins. Verse 10 tells us that “He has not dealt with us according to our sins,
Nor punished us according to our iniquities.” This is something that is above human comprehension and definitely not how we naturally would respond to being wronged.
BUT GOD IS SO DIFFERENT - and I am so grateful for that. In order to help us to grasp that His forgiveness is real He gives us two illustrations in the next two verses. Verse 11 says that “as the heavens are high above the earth, so great is His mercy toward those who fear Him” and verse 12 adds that “as far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.” Can you measure the distance from heaven to the earth? Or have you ever tried to determine how far the east is from the west?
Instead of trying to comprehend or explain this level of forgiveness let us accept it and show our appreciation through walking in the new life God provides.
🧡And while we do that let us extend this forgiveness also to those around us. 🫂

🫂Where do you turn to for comfort? How can suffering be a blessing? 😢

Paul tells us in 2.Corinthians 1:3-5 from whom our comfort originates. We may seek comfort through a variety of means and from a variety of sources, often left with more pain and hurt, because TRUE COMFORT COMES FROM GOD. In verse 4 we are reminded that like any other gift from God, comfort is not just for ourselves. He gives to us that we might give to others in turn. God in comforting us, at the same time equips us for service, and gives us the hope that though our sufferings may abound, our consolation will proportionately abound.

#5 🙅‍♂️ Practice self denial! 🙅

Our will is strengthened like a muscle: simply by exercising it!
This might not sound very appealing but practice denying yourself of pure indulgences, especially when alone.
Maybe you have a habit of stopping every morning on the way to work to pick up a favorite drink or snack. Decide to stop but then take that money normally spent on your own self gratification and direct it towards helping others. It can go in a fund for family emergencies or next year’s school supplies. Look for ways to bless someone else in the practice of self-denial. Let our Savior, whose every act of self-denial allowed for greater blessings to be bestowed upon humanity, be your example. Christ calls us to deny ourselves and take up our cross and follow Him. Embrace the greater principle at work here the more self is denied the greater your capacity for blessing others. (Luke 9:23-24)

❤️‍🩹 Do you struggle to forgive others who have hurt you? 🤕
Do you wonder if God is still willing to forgive you?
Psalm 86:5 reminds us of how much higher God's ways are than ours. We have to pray and really strive to put away self in order to forgive people who have deeply wronged us, but God, who has dealt with thousands of years of human sin and injustice, has a heart that is willing and ready to forgive us.
It is always amazing to think that God knows ahead of time every decision that we will make, whether it be for or against Him, and in spite of this, He has a heart that is full of love and ready to forgive.
And as we can accept this love and forgiveness, He wants to enable us to extend it to others as well.

🧡 Do you truly cherish God’s word? 🤔
Are you allowing it to truly deliver you from fear?
As the time of His crucifixion approached, Jesus earnestly endeavored to prepare His disciples for what they would soon face.
Two groups had heard these words. One remembered, one forgot, but neither experienced the experience He intended.
Rather than cherishing Jesus’ words, the disciples focused on themselves. His death took them completely by surprise. Brokenhearted, disappointed and fearful, they were not able to understand the events that had taken place.
But another group had not forgotten. These were Christ’s enemies. Instead of finding His words “sweet to their taste”, their hearts were filled with terror. Utterly frightened, they made sure to provide extra security around Jesus' grave.
Do you remember God's words? If so, how do you respond to them? My prayer is that you will not only remember God's words, but also cherish and live by them.

😔 Do you feel discouraged and wonder if God hears you when you cry out? 👂
David assures you, in this verse, that God is watching over you. He cares tenderly for His people. He will not leave you to travel the road of life alone, His ear is open to your prayers. This knowledge alone should fill your heart with comfort and hope. You have a Friend, to whom you can confide any burden, secret or struggle of your heart. This privilege cannot be described in words, it has to be experienced. Being part of God's people doesn't mean a carefree life without struggles, sorrows or trials. In verse 19 David says that “many are the afflictions of the righteous”, but he doesn't stop there He continues “but the LORD delivers him out of them all”.
🙏 The way this happens might not always be as expected, but you can rest assured that He is watching over you with tender care and He hears you when you cry out.
