Hardin County Friendship Club

What is Faith in Action?

Hardin County’s Faith in Action (FIA) program was started in 2001 with a start-up grant through the Robert W Johnson Foundation. FIA is a nationwide network of programs that provides volunteer services to others in need. Hardin County’s program focuses on serving persons with mental disabilities, primarily those with mental illness or intellectual disabilities. Volunteers provide group activities and/or one-to-one supports. Hardin County FIA sponsors an annual Christmas project and an annual mental health seminar. Approximately 60 individuals receive supports through Hardin County FIA annually.

What is Friendship Club?

Friendship Club, under the auspices of FIA, is a rehabilitative program for persons with mental illness and/or developmental disabilities. It is located at 602 South Oak in Iowa Falls. The Center provides planned social and educations skill training opportunities and activities. The goal is for these activities to increase the independence and stability of participants. Activities include such things as potlucks, group community outings, field trips, mental health educational programs, guest speakers, health screenings, and skill building classes (cooking, crafts, etc). Any Hardin County resident can apply and participate who has a documented MH/DD diagnosis and is not a current threat to him/herself or others.
