Early Explorers, formerly Good Shepherd Center, is an independent, non-profit child care center that provides high-quality early childhood education in an environment that is loving and welcoming. Serving Children from 6 Weeks to 5 Years old

Established in 1982, Good Shepherd Center (GSC) has provided high-quality early childhood education for children in Iowa City and the surrounding area for ov

er 40 years. Originally established in St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church on Melrose Avenue, we've moved into our own facility on Greenwood Avenue, next to Briarwood. GSC serves approximately 70 families in our core programs which include enrichment opportunities through partnerships with other local nonprofits and education-focused organizations! As a daycare licensed by the Iowa Department of Human Services, we also offer deferred tuition for children in need of special placements. We celebrate all families and serve without regard to race, color, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, age, ability, or veteran status.

💚Green Room: For Tasty Tuesday each friend got to make a yogurt parfiet! 🥣They got to choose what toppings they wanted and add them to the top and then we enjoyed them with our lunch!

We started the Week of the Young Child with Music Monday at Early Explorers. 🎶

One of our classrooms celebrated by letting the children take their shoes off and walk in paint playing the game “freeze dance” to music. 🎨
