The Future of The Writers' Rooms: Call for Volunteers
Hello writing community,
Over the past 10 years, the Violet Realm has provided a space for fantasy and science fiction writers. For 8 years, The Writers’ Rooms has created many other Rooms for people to explore their creativity and meet fellow writers. None of this would have been possible without our leaders and our Concierges who worked diligently to offer safe spaces, lessons, and even special events like Imagine Other Worlds with Authors and our yearly anthologies.
We’ve reached a point, however, where The Writers’ Rooms is no longer sustainable in its current state. We only have a few Concierges left who have worked very hard to keep things going. While we love this organization, we do not have the capacity to continue without additional support.
What does this mean for The Writers’ Rooms? There are two options.
1. We merge all the Rooms into one and host a Writers’ Rooms two-hour session once a month for people to gather, write, and connect. Our goal is to find a location that would allow this consistently.
* We need dedicated people who can set up these monthly sessions, send out publicity about it, and attend them.

2. The Writers’ Rooms dissolves as an organization after we publish our final anthology, Iowa [W]rites of Spring.
We leave this decision in the hands of you, our writing community. If 3-4 people are interested in stepping forward and leading this endeavor, then we will continue at a smaller scale. Otherwise, we will need to take steps to dissolve The Writers’ Rooms.
This is our final opportunity to keep The Writers’ Rooms running as an organization. If we don’t have a plan in place by June 5th, we will begin the process of dissolving.
Thank you for all the years we’ve spent together and all the love and support you’ve brought to the Rooms. Even if we have to close our doors, remember you’re not alone. Our writers are still out there, and I hope you all will find each other, no matter what happens.
