Did you miss the parent meeting on April 1? No worries! Here are the notes from the meeting.
Welcome & Season Overview/Important Dates
Practices:
-Begin Monday, April 6th at 5:30 & 6:30 (or Wed the 8th for some teams)
--(important to be on time, limited daylight)
Be respectful of teams and transition quickly
-Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays 2 a week per team
-Check SportsEngine for team schedules
- practice schedule is up, games will be scheduled later, but are ALWAYS M, TH
Scrimmages
-Week of April 27th
-Monday and Thursday
-Working on schedule for the leagues with an odd number of teams (IL, JL, SL)
Season Opening
-Monday, May 4th
-Games on Mondays and Thursdays
-No games on Memorial Day (Monday, May 25th)
Picture Day: Monday, May 18th
Family Night w/Kona Ice: Monday, June 1st
All Star Games: Friday, June 5th (June 12th in case of rainout)
Tournament Schedules: Week of June 22nd (into the following in case of rainout)
Equipment
-Provided by ICBB: jerseys and hats for players, coaches bag has catcher’s equipment, balls, there are tees and soft toss machines in the clubhouse to borrow during practice
-Required for players: wear jersey and hat to games, long pants, long socks, baseball glove, bat (max barrel size of 2 ¾”), helmet, closed toe shoes (not Crocs)
-Recommended for players: baseball pants, cleats, protective cup, batting gloves, bag to carry everything
League Info

Instructional League
-make sure “pitcher” is attentive and catcher is off to the side, all players be careful NOT to throw bats, this is to be a fun, introductory experience, emphasize hustle in, hustle out
Pitching Machine
-Be patient with the timing on the pitching machine at 1st, it takes some time for them to get used to
-Rules special to PM: play is stopped by an INFIELD player holding the ball up over their head, do encourage them to make the baseball play, coaches can go on the field and walk up and help the batter, batters get 3 swinging strikes or 5 pitches from the machine
Junior League
- kids pitch, start with a 1-0 count, coaches remain in the dugout area, on ball 4 the kids hit off a soft toss machine-they get 2 tosses, if foul on the 2nd, they are out
Senior League
-home plate is open, 4 balls= a walk, partnering with North Liberty, Tiffin, Ely, and Solon for games
Rule Changes
-Bat size max change to 2 ¾”
-Junior League hit by pitch, option to take the base or hit off the soft toss machine
-Five run rule per inning (no more last batter runs the bases)
Clubhouse Manager
-Umpire etiquette: be kind, the umpires are young and learning
-Coaches/Parent Expectations
SportsEngine App + Rainout Line
-Rainouts via IC Parks and Rec Rainout Line 319-346-7080 or download the app, updated at 4 pm by the City (ICBB does not get any info ahead of time, this is the first place it is posted)
-Download the sports engine app- RSVP for practices and games, info about times and field numbers is all there
Team names will be updated from generic IL Team 1, etc. to MLB names (IL Cubs, etc) once jerseys are ordered
-Use the chat function on SE to communicate with the team
Coaches Info and Resources
Background checks: head coaches will get an email from Luke Villhauer to fill out a form
-Communications with teams please do prior to 1st practice
-Team bag pick up at clubhouse at first practice, return after last game of the season
-winning coach submits the score in sports engine (no scores are kept in Instructional League)

Concessions
-Will be open for scrimmages and games (not practices)
-Take cash or card
-We are selling old jerseys at the concession stand cheap!
