Compeer has been active in Johnson County, IA has been creating supported friendships between volunteers and adults with long-term illness since 2002. We ask the two of you matched in a friendship to spend 4 hours per month together, enjoying activities you would with any friend. These often include taking a walk, getting coffee or going to lunch, going to a movie or whatever the two of you choos

e to do; it's up to you! The adults in our program are ready for friendship and look forward to having someone to share their life experiences and their joys and sorrows. We are located in the lower level of the First Presbyterian Church at 2701 Rochester Avenue.

Stop by the Library for free health and social services. The UI Mobile Clinic will be in the lower level of the Library providing free basic health services on a drop-in basis.

Area social services agencies will be available to talk to.
Free health services include:
* blood pressure, heart rate
* Cholesterol & diabetes (HbA1C) testing
* Exercise + nutrition programming and education
* Prescription for medication refills
* Free eyeglasses for reading
* Visit with a doctor

University of Iowa Museum of Natural History

The University of Iowa Museum of Natural History is a featured stop on a historic cross-country journey celebrating the American bison. Three larger-than-life bronze bison sculptures, created for the Smithsonian's National Museum of Natural History, will arrive in Iowa City as part of a road trip from Colorado to Washington, D.C.

Morning–3 p.m.
Find the bronze bison parked on Clinton St. in front of the Museum of Natural History and meet Smithsonian Content Experts for general info, Q&A

1–5 p.m.
Museum of Natural History open to the public; come inside to visit our bison displays

*** 1:30–2:30 p.m. ***
Public bison talks and programming inside the Museum of Natural History

3 p.m.–A warm Iowa City send off! Meet by the bison sculptures to wave them off as they depart
