We love getting the opportunity to share what we do! 🌽🤖

This afternoon we opened up the lab to showcase our program to not 1, not 2, but 4 local mayors from communities where our students are learning, building, and thriving

We were honored to host Mayor O’Donnell (Cedar Rapids), Mayor Hoffman (North Liberty), Mayor Teague (Iowa City), and Mayor Goodrich (Coralville)

Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedules to learn more about FIRST Robotics, FRC, and what’s possible when we work together to build a better future

We can’t do all that we do in a vacuum. We grow best surrounded by great people

Grateful for the friends who celebrate the highs and stick with us through the lows, and help us build some really a-maize-ing robots together 🤖

Shoutout to just a few of the incredible groups we’ve gotten to work with this season: FRC Teams 5576, 11241, 7431, and 6420. You push us to be the best version of ourselves and help keep us growing kernel by kernel 🌽

We heard your most requested idea loud and clear, and we’re excited to sprout a brand new way for 2nd–4th graders to experience Junior Bots! 🌱

Join us for Junior Bots: Evening Engineers July 20th-24th. This 5-day camp features a smaller group size and takes place at our James St workspace from 5:30–8:00 PM. It’s the perfect option for busy summer schedules while still getting hands-on robotics fun.

While Team 167 is busy prepping for the FIRST Championship, this time of year is always a favorite of ours: planting seeds to inspire the next generation 🤩

We kicked-off yesterday by hosting a field trip for the Iowa City Home School Association, where 1 in 3 participants are already sprouting as Corn Kids within our FLL teams, Junior Bot camps, and Mini Bot workshops! 🌱

From there, we popped over to Penn Elementary for Science Night 🤖 PopBot was the cream of the crop as new families joined us for robot soccer and familiar faces returned to beat their previous records

Got a school or event ready to plant some STEM seeds? We’d love to bring our robots to help them grow 🌽

It’s National Robotics Week — and this is what world-class education looks like in Iowa:
Across the state, there is a clear push to expand multiple pathways, close opportunity gaps, and connect learning to real-world application. Iowa Department of Education Mission Employable

Team 167 (Iowa City Robotics) is doing exactly that.
Students are:
• Designing and building complex robotic systems
• Applying engineering and programming in real time
• Collaborating in ways that mirror industry practice

Their work has earned them a place at the FIRST Robotics World Championship, where they will represent Iowa on a global stage.

This is applied, career-connected learning.

Fuel your cravings and support the team 🍗

Between now and April 24th, stop by the Coralville Buffalo Wild Wings and mention Iowa City Robotics or show this post, at no extra cost to you, 10% of your order will go toward helping the team get to Worlds

Buffalo Wild Wings has become a team tradition, our go-to spot at the end of every competition to celebrate the big wins, the small victories, and everything in between

If you go, take our recommendation: try the caramel sauce with your cheese curds next time and think of the team 💛

Every meal helps get us one step closer to Worlds

We’re going to WORLDS. 🌎🤖

Team 167 — Children of the Corn just qualified for the FIRST World Championship in Houston.

46 students from 7 schools.
One robot built in 6 weeks.

Along the way, we also gave back over 800 hours of STEM outreach in our community.

Now we need help getting there.

Your donation supports travel, competition costs, and continued impact here in Iowa.
