It is with great sadness that we report the death of Past International Director Delmar "Del" Brown, who died in his home on May 20, 2026. Del served a 2-year term as international director of Lions Clubs International from 2002-2004. He was district governor of District 9X9 and was council chair of Multiple District 9 from 1997-1998. He was the recipient of the GE Bud Klise Service Award in 1999.

Visitation will be held from 12:00-1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 27, 2026 at The Congregational United Church of Christ (30 N. Clinton Street) in Iowa City. A memorial service will follow at 1:00 p.m.

🚗 On the Road with Iowa KidSight 🚗

Chelle had the pleasure of traveling to Carroll, IA last weekend for the Iowa Lions 9 Northwest and 9 Southwest District Convention and what an uplifting experience it was. The energy in the room was contagious, and it was clear that these Lions are deeply committed to strengthening their communities through meaningful service.

One of the most exciting parts of the weekend was hearing about the new members joining their ranks. These fresh faces bring new ideas, new passion, and a renewed sense of purpose to the mission of service. It’s inspiring to see the Lions not only sustaining their legacy of leadership, but actively growing it by welcoming and mentoring the next generation of volunteers.

To all the Lions who attended: thank you for your enthusiasm, your hospitality, and your unwavering support of Iowa KidSight. Your dedication helps ensure that children across Iowa receive the vision screenings they need to thrive. We appreciate everything you do and we’re honored to be on this journey with you.

‼️FEBRUARY SUCCESS STORY‼️
This month, we're sharing Molly's journey. There were no warning signs — she never complained about her vision, never squinted, and had no trouble keeping up with what was happening around her. Her family would have never suspected anything was wrong. But an Iowa KidSight screening revealed she needed glasses.
Now, Molly proudly wears her pink glasses with purple speckles and is thrilled to tell everyone how well she can see. Her mom is grateful they caught it early, ensuring Molly can start her educational journey with the tools she needs to succeed.

🚗 On the Road with Iowa KidSight 🚗

Iowa KidSight has had a wonderfully full week on the road. We kicked things off Monday with a visit to Winterset, where the dedicated Lions of Madison County welcomed us with their trademark enthusiasm and commitment to service.

Since 2001, this incredible group has screened nearly 3,000 children, an extraordinary contribution to protecting the vision health of little ones ages 6 months through kindergarten. Their consistency, care, and community spirit make a real difference for families across the county.

We’re deeply grateful for their ongoing partnership and for the heart they bring to ensuring every child has the chance to see a bright future.
