The Iowa City Fab Lab was the first Fab Lab in Iowa. What is a Fab Lab? A community center which ma The S.T.E.A.M. Room is the first Fab Lab in Iowa.

A community center which makes tools and technology accessible to everyone in the corridor! Anyone can come in and use the equipment and training to build (almost) anything!

Lots of shenanigans happening during week two of DND afterschool! We worked on character sheets and dice towers and we had so much fun! We’re excited to have these wonderful students back next week.

We still have afterschool openings this fall for Cosplay Costumes, Minecraft Mods, and Drawing/3D Designs! More information can be found on our website.

It was a pleasure to host Dr. Matthew Lira's graduate class from the University of Iowa yesterday! The students learned how to create usable items from everyday objects, how to rethink and reimagine pre-existing ideas, and the importance of collective maker spaces in the community. Thanks again for stopping by!

This week, the Fab Lab has some available spots for our Electronics class, and we have our two FREE monthly studio days for Fiber Arts and Woodshop! If you've been curious about our spaces, Saturday is a great time to come and say hello😊

Machine(s) of the Month: Our brand new 3D printers!
"Welcome to the newest additions to the Fab Lab! With these new printers, Fab Lab members can print more stuff in half the time! Each of the Adventurer 5M Pro printers can print a benchy in roughly 15 minutes, and are tuned to print out high quality PLA prints with ease. The Snapmaker U1, our flagship printer, uses 4 separate nozzles to specialize in multi material prints. Once the lid is complete, the U1 can print any filament you can get your hands on, and can use cheap PLA as supports to high grade engineering level prints. You can also load it up with 4 colors of PLA to make fast multicolor masterpieces!" -Dan, 3D Printing and CAD instructor
