We are incredibly grateful for our many, many community partners- including Iowa River Disc Golf Club! For the second summer, our disc golf friends hosted a clinic for our Bigs and Littles. It was HOT but everyone had a ton of fun at the Wetherby Park disc golf course!

Part of the magic of Big Brothers Big Sisters is that our mentors create opportunities for exploration - and Big Sister Meribeth epitomizes this. She and Little Brother Justin have been on all kinds of outdoor adventures -and most recently, they participated in our Playground BINGO challenge. They visited three parks: City Park, Terry Trueblood and North Ridge Park - walking around lakes, photo ops with Herky, and checking out growing gardens.

This is summer. This is BBBS. ☀️

🌞🌞Who is this ray of sunshine? Why- it's Mentoring Specialist and Big Sister Nora Garda!! Nora truly is ray of sunshine- bringing her passion, creativity, and overflowing positive energy to everything she does. We are proud to celebrate Nora as one of our 50 Faces of BBBS!

Here is Nora in her own words, sharing why she wanted to join the BBBS village:

"I always considered BBBS a responsible and reliable organization that makes a meaningful difference in the lives of young people. By the time I applied for a position with the organization, I had been a Big Sister for about five years. I knew the people, understood the mission, and deeply valued the organization’s human-centered culture. After many years as a scientist at the UI and taking early retirement during the pandemic, I wanted to dedicate my time to work that supports mentorship, youth wellbeing, and hope."

And if she could sum up BBBS in one word? "TOGETHERNESS."
