Wow! Iowa City Darwin Day 2026 was a fabulous success!

Our focus on vaccine science and advocacy featured talks from Dr. Peter Hotez, Tara C. Smith and Dr Aaron Scherer. We also offered a vaccine clinic in partnership with Johnson County Public Health and Rx4Prevention.

We are so thankful for all of our planning committee members and our sponsors, including Iowa Immunizes, Iowa Public Health Association, Vaccinate Your Family, Obermann Center for Advanced Studies, University of Iowa Department of Biology, The University of Iowa College of Public Health, The Royal Society, Nodo: coffee, carry out & catering Iowa City and more!

Iowa City Darwin Day 2026!!!

Join us TODAY, Saturday, April 11th starting at 9:30 am in Phillips Hall to hear from our incredible speakers Aaron Scherer, PhD, Tara Smith, PhD, and Peter Hotez, MD, PhD!

We're also hosting a vaccine clinic again this morning with our friends from Johnson County Public Health and Rx4 Prevention. Even Dr. Hotez got up to date yesterday! Stop by the informational booths to learn about the incredible resources from a few of our sponsors: Vaccinate Your Family and Iowa Public Health Association/Iowa Immunizes. You can help us celebrate 20 years of the HPV vaccine, and purchase our new children's book. Darwin Day merchandise is also available for purchase!

Our first day of Darwin Day we got to hear from Beth Yale and James Costa on their new book “The Descent of Man: An Annotated Edition of Darwin’s Classical Work”! Also a huge thank you for Prairie Lights letting us use their space for this wonderful event!

There will also be a reading at Prairie Lights tonight at 7:00 PM with Beth Yale, PhD, and James Costa, PhD, as well as additional seminars on April 11th starting at 9:30 in Phillips Hall. We're also having a vaccine clinic Friday and Saturday.
