BEYOND THE TALK: A COMMUNITY ACTION LAB

This Thursday, we’re back for the third installment of our Community Conversation surrounding the controversial Johnson County Jail and Sheriff’s Office proposal.

We’ve talked. We’ve listened. We’ve heard different perspectives. Now it’s time to ask a bigger question: What does BETTER TOGETHER actually look like?

This week, we’re changing the format. nstead of another traditional conversation, we’re creating an interactive space where community members can come together, identify common ground, and begin developing a plan for meaningful action.

This isn’t about convincing someone to vote YES or NO. It’s about recognizing that regardless of the outcome, we will still be neighbors, coworkers, friends, and community members.

The election will eventually end, but the work of building a stronger community must continue.

Through Dream City’s partnership with the Pre-Apprenticeship Program, participants have been getting hands-on experience and exploring opportunities in the skilled trades.

WHAT DO WE DO WITH WHAT WE’VE HEARD?

Listening is only the beginning.
After hearing stories of belonging, trauma, and lived experiences, the conversation shifted to an important question: How can we do better as a community?
Real change starts when we take what we’ve heard and allow it to shape how we show up for one another. 💛
