Earlier this year members from departments across the state attended the International Association of Fire Fighters STRIVE conference in Las Vegas. A week long conference with classes directed at helping our members become better at their job, and strengthening their unions.

The things we fight for benefit out families and give us a better life, we appreciate union leaders from across the state that are involved at a local level, and at a state level.

As Mental Health Awareness Month comes to a close, we recognize how important it is to our members to continue investing in their mental well being. Our shifts can take a toll on families, being gone for 24+ hrs at a time, waking up multiple times in the night, responding to graphic or gruesome scenes at times, and having adrenaline surges and dumps responding to calls.

This is not only true for our members, but also the general public. Make sure to take care of your mental well-being, in addition to checking on those around you. Your neighbor, your friend, your relative could use a check-in from you today. We're all in this together, let's take care of each other!
