The store opened in April 2016 under the name Drop Inn Resale Store Iowa City. In the spring of 2020, the name was changed to UPSCALE RESALE. Its original location was in Iowa City Market Place, where it remained for 15 months. In December 2017, the store was relocated to 3305 Highway 1 SW, Suite 28, Iowa City, where we currently have 6,000 sq of showroom space with an additional 2,400 sq where we receive and service donations.

OUR STORY:
UPSCALE RESALE was birthed out of the desire to provide help and hope for those less fortunate. During our initial discussion regarding how to provide assistance we determined that generating financial resources was critical to fulfilling our vision. On that basis we established a non-profit, volunteer base, resale store, that is dependent on community involvement as expressed through donations, shopping, and volunteering. To our delight, we discovered that individuals were excited when they realized that the dress they haven’t worn in years, or the chair that doesn’t match their new déco’ when donated to UPSCALE RESALE can make a difference for individuals and families impacted by poverty, chemical dependency, abuse, domestic violence, human trafficking, or homelessness.
At UPSCALE RESALE, you can feel good about rehoming your once-loved items. By donating your items, you can join us in our mission to bring hope and help to individuals who are in conditions of need, hardship, or distress
Our Community: UPSCALE RESALE is a center for community action. We are a community of compassion dedicated to helping a community in need. We all want to help those in need but just don't know-how. It can seem too large, overwhelming, and many of us just don’t know where to start. If that’s you we invite you to join the vision at your comfort level. Not everyone is ready to volunteer, but donating and especially shopping are action steps that will go a long way in bringing hope and help to individuals and families in Johnson, and around the world.

SHOP: We invite you to visit our store where you will find great deals on quality items. We have something for everyone, from clothing, shoes, jewelry, housewares, tools, furniture, electronics, collectibles, antiques, and more. We encourage you to spread the word by inviting your family, friends, and coworkers to check us out.
DONATE: We invite you to donate your new and slightly used items. Your donation enables us to bring hope and help to individuals and families in Johnson County and around the world.

If you are interested in donating furniture, and need it picked up, please email or call the store. We ask that you provide current photos of each item, along with a list of any damages or defects.

· We reserve the right to turn away items.

Who We Support:
The profits are invested in local nonprofits such as ICMatrix, Retrograde Ministries, Johnson County Empowerment, and Iowa City Compassion.
We also invest in humanitarian efforts in Naypyidaw, Myanmar to feed, educate, and care for street children.
