Applications for Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) 2026 are now open.

RYLA is a leadership experience designed for high school students ready to grow in confidence, communication, and decision-making. Participants spend a week at camp developing practical leadership skills alongside other motivated students from across the region.

Camp Dates:
Camp 1: June 14–19, 2026
Camp 2: June 21–26, 2026
Location: Grizzly Creek Ranch, Portola, CA

Who should apply:
Students currently in 11th grade (preferred) or 12th grade with an interest in leadership, personal growth, and making an impact in their school or community.

Application deadline: March 5, 2026
Selected students must attend an in-person interview on March 18, 2026.

To apply:
Students must complete both application forms and turn them in to their school counseling office.

If you know a student who would benefit from this experience, make sure they apply before the deadline.

Members of the Ione Rotary Club wrapped up Thursday’s meeting and headed over for a visit to Ione Elementary School, where they delivered more than 60 dictionaries to three third-grade classes.

Principal Mike Huss shared that some teachers incorporate the dictionaries into their lesson plans.

For many students, it was their first personal dictionary - one student even remarked on how heavy it was.

Past Club President Richard Forster had the special joy of presenting one to his grandson, Rhett, who also helped distribute them to his classmates.
