Let's talk about strangles. We've had a few people ask.

As far as mitigation goes, the two vulnerable contact points involve water distribution and pens being too close. We will ask our volunteer waterers to not let the hose contact buckets or water - basically dangle it above water tanks. There are water spigots at all the wash stations if you'd prefer to fill your own buckets.

As you are making pens, please be aware of what space you are using and how close you are to your neighbors. Staggering pens would be wise. No horses need to make new horse friends over the weekend. :)

Hey Folks,
Just a little info before we finalize the flyers and posters.
It is going to be a great year for us! Lots of activities planned, new and old.
Lots of great food on tap, live music, and BINGO!
Solar lights charging for the Friday night ride.
Vendors getting ready!
We will be back in the barn this year, so the old roadway in again.
More info to come
Start packing those trailers and charging the fencers!
Remember we have showers available to campers all weekend as well.
Bring the kids.
We will have crafts in the barn during the ride weekend.
Still campsites available, so come on out!!
Can't wait to see you all.

Wonderful time today at the Memorial Day Parade in Iola for some of the crew. Always fun when we get to get together with friends and the horses. Pamela Cotton and Lisa Bestul took care of Fabio and the adorable Guppy while Brittany Knauer and hubby Nick brought the girls to ride both the big ones and the feisty little ones. Rambler took care of his girl like a champ and Dragon was a super good boy. There was Shana and her riding companion (sorry, I didn't catch a name) who rode a pair of beautiful Frisians with us. Guppy wasn't too sure of them. :) A shout out to Ben and Charlie Wasrud for bringing up the back. And we always love to see the gorgeous Percherons pulling the wagon. Just a reminder that there are still campsites available on line. And get your mane and tail lights ordered for the Friday night ride after bingo!! FYI I bought mine from TEMU for a decent price. HOPE TO SEE YOU ALL AT THE RIDE Sept 11,12,13th!!!

Anyone interested in joining us for the Memorial Day Parade in Iola? Another great way to honor our veterans!

Staging is at the Iola-Scandinavia High School parking lot at 10am on May 25th - parade starts at 11am and goes from the high school to the park. Not a long route and you just ride back to the high school after.

No need to RSVP - feel free to comment or share, and just show up. We'll be in the back of the parade.
