West Virginia, we need to step up, if you want to get involved - READ THIS!

If you do not know how to get involved, please read this. We need to understand something urgent; this is not going to go away from only voting. This will take consistent effort from every individual that cares about the future of West Virginia, and the future of our nation. Some states across the U.S are proposing bans, moratoriums, and straight out rejecting the surveillance centers. We CANNOT let this be another coal baron era. We need to unite peacefully, and not back down like the workers who marched on Blair Mountain.

We cannot continue to let these surveillance centers be imposed without the say of the citizens in WV. There are so many people in West Virginia that can, and we don't even need the full force of everyone to make an effective movement to stop the data centers. When it comes to these surveillance centers... Our Senators and Delegates have voted in ways constituents disagree with, like with HB2014, and rarely speak, advocate, or even show up to protests against data centers, let alone try to bring forth bans or moratoriums. They need to listen and represent us. And it is our civic duty as constituents to remind them. Let us remind that that voting no for the second time, does not mean things are not better.

I want to highlight what we need to do as individuals. We need to help each other. We need to speak up, even if you are scared. We need to protect each other. We need to inform ourselves about the dangers. Ask your delegates to show up to protests. We need to attend protest ourselves, and get real numbers. Imagine if everyone in this group stood together in solidarity at a protest against the corporations extracting our resources once again. We could bring a permanent change and start moving towards a better state where we don't have massive amounts of people struggling. But we need to get real about what we are doing as individuals to help.

So please. Reach out if you need help. Start today. Contact a delegate. I know some people need a date and time to plan so: Come to the protests, we have one in the Eastern Panhandles every Saturday 10am at Crossroads Convenience Store - 4081 Williamsport Pike, Martinsburg, WV 25404 what to bring? Yourself, and your energy.

These are the Delegates and Senators from the Eastern Panhandle who voted for HB 2014. Their contact information is public, and you have every right to reach out. When you do, please remain peaceful, respectful, and non‑hostile.
Tell them clearly that we do not want surveillance centers in West Virginia. Ask them to show that they care about their constituents by:

1) repealing HB 2014
2) attending the protests
3) advocating publicly for a moratorium or ban
Do not send threats. Do not use hostile language.

What are we waiting for? Do we think that the same majority of officials who voted for HB2014 are just going to change their mind?

I think we need to understand one thing. West Virginia has a long tradition of working-class solidarity and community protection. It is deeply rooted in our history and people. We are past the point of appealing to the individuals who allowed corporate interest to continue to extract from our state. The surveillance centers do not deserve a space in our beautiful state.

The path we take going forward will not look like what we think. Something is going to give. Communities from all over the country are putting up a fight and winning against the corporations who want to impose them without our say. West Virginia, prepare yourself. We need to do all we can to help prevent the further destruction of our state.

I cannot stress how important it is for you to start finding like minded individuals and form a local network. Create plans for emergencies, plans to get out speak up. Using your rights to protest and speak up for what you believe in.

Please if you are stuck on where to start, or how you can help - do not hesitate to reach out. The West Virginia Clarity Project is working amongst a massive amount of teams, projects, and organizations across the state.

You are not alone, we are here. We are fighting. We will continue to fight. All power to the people.

The revival of grassroots projects in WV is what will bring true change to the state. We dont have to change any nature, or rural areas - but we do need to come together as a community and state, to help those who are suffering.

Brit Aguirre for West Virginia is working hard to create some amazing stuff in her community. A safe place for people to go, with community gardens + much more planned. If you have a few bucks to invest/chip in it would be greatly appreciated.

A MESSAGE TO ALL WEST VIRGINIA INDEPENDENTS/Inactive Voters;

We are out here, trying our hardest to deliver the resources you need, and making an investment in West Virginia, for West Virginia.

I see you very clearly and relate to you, as I have never been involved in my community and civic until this year. I understand the struggle and why we dont involve ourselves locally and why we dont vote.. WV is notorious for the lack of state-wide initiatives that are intended to invest in WV, inspire others, and provide you with the resources you need to make an informed vote! And truly is sad to see. Our roots in WV are about community, helping each other and fixing problems that help the working class. For the people that are looking for a reason to get involved, there are so many West Virginias coming together to form strong coalitions amongst other projects. I promise you we care, and we want better for working class West Virginians.

Instead of waiting for something to happen, I started to create meaningful resources specifically for West Virginia, and as an investment into the state and its people. I started collaborating and making calls so we can eventually form a state-wide coalition where everyone truly engages and has a reason to. I feel as the most important part that will get people engaged, is giving them a project to be proud of and contribute to. It starts with you, doing something. Whether it is learning about government, picking up litter, helping your neighbors, started a community garden. It doesnt have to be big, or expend a lot of effort - it can be as simple as understanding your local government, and contributing the knowledge and skill set you do have.

Looking forward:

The Wv Clarity Project is working hard with WV Utility Impact Project and Bloodhound Media to deliver a legitimate resource hub for West Virginians. Reports on the WVUIP Survey, Candidate information, County Breakdowns, civic education content, reporting from Bloodhound Media on important coalitions and efforts happening state wide.

I am also happy to announce that I have been in contact with Brit Aguirre for West Virginia , and we have many collaborations coming over summer. One of the biggest is a podcast within her "Appalachians for Change" efforts. Where we will speak about issues affecting the WV working class, and many topics about how we can approach these to bring a solution that permanently fixes issues from the root. Amongst other several efforts with her that will be released as we build.

We are not going anywhere. We fully intended for this to extend past November elections. You deserve a safe place to be proud of where you can engage and contribute your skills in a meaningful way.
