❄️💙 IT’S ALMOST SHELTER SEASON! 🐻‍❄️💙
The time has come to start getting ready for another season of Citrus Cold Weather Shelter! 🙌
Whether you’re a seasoned volunteer or thinking about joining us for the first time, we want YOU there! We’re offering two convenient Volunteer Training dates in late September/early October.
Even if you’ve volunteered with us before, we encourage you to attend! We’ll cover updated policies and procedures, important training, answer questions, share information, and get everyone ready for the season ahead.
And let’s be honest… the best part is getting together with old friends, new friends, and an amazing group of people who are ready to show up for our neighbors when they need us most. ❤️

This is literal truth. Sometimes you are the only connection they have to the outside world, and you are the hero! What a great volunteer opportunity.

Do you have a few hours a week to give of your time? ⏰

Citrus County Senior Services is seeking volunteers to deliver meals to homebound seniors during lunchtime hours, Monday through Friday.

​Volunteers must be willing to give at least two hours of their time, one day a week.

Each meal route consists of 10-20 stops, taking one to two hours to complete. Volunteers can be reimbursed for mileage!

Good Tuesday morning to you. I hope your week is going well so far. Today at 4:00 p.m., we will be having our weekly hot meal service at the First Lutheran Church in Inverness and at Daystar in Crystal River. We are serving Spaghetti, Green Beans, Bread, and Dessert. If you are in either of the two areas, stop by and see our amazing volunteers, and they will get you fixed up with a meal or two. Have an amazing day.

Earlier last week a small team of volunteers were able to meet at our storage unit and organize, document and check supplies, and start the process for making blessing bags that needed to go out. It was much needed as we know there is huge needs presently for little blessings. ❤️

One of our coordinators, Traci Mason, took lots home to get as many bags as able done. Her goal was 50, she ended that round with 33 and more to do. 🤩

Per Traci the "bags have both assorted camp style foods, snacks and assorted hygiene items, sunblock and chap stick, plus the draw string bag that comes in handy. We are also handing out Hot Weather Drive supplies, have lots of hats, a few tarps from the rain, bug nets, more sunblock, bug spray and bands.
Community effort has been great and deeply appreciated."

As we look ahead to making more bags and starting to prep for what we've been told is sure to be a much colder and more days open cold season to come, we want to encourage you to jump in with us where you can. Everyone is only 1 emergency situation away from facing homelessness and those numbers are growing daily. We have over 900 homeless, many families who just can't afford rent right now. The Connections Clinic is a NO-COST medical clinic for Citrus County residents who:

-Do not have health insurance
-Meet the income guidelines of 200% of the federal poverty level

We’re here to help you take care of your health without the financial burden.

Our next women’s health appointment with Melanie Dryden is September 9th from 9:00 AM–11:30 AM.

Services include:

-FREE Pap smears
-FREE blood work
-Women's health screenings
-Other women's health services
-Compassionate, respectful care

Please don’t keep putting off your health. Your health matters, and you deserve access to quality care.

Need pregnancy-related services?
The Connections Clinic does not provide pregnancy services, but The Pregnancy and Family Life Center of Citrus Countywill be at the clinic on Wednesdays with their mobile clinic to provide pregnancy-related care and support.
