🥞 Pancakes, teamwork, and a whole lot of Scout spirit! 🥞

Troop 457 was up bright and early this morning at Applebee’s for our pancake breakfast fundraiser, and what a great morning it was!

Our Scouts were busy serving guests, keeping things clean, lending a helping hand, and, of course, having a little fun along the way! We enjoyed some great fellowship, raised money to support our troop, and got to show off what Scouting is all about.

A big THANK YOU to everyone who came out to support us and to Applebee’s for hosting us! Every pancake served and every dollar raised helps our Scouts grow, learn, and create memories that will last a lifetime.
Great Scouts. Great teamwork. Great morning! 🥞�

Troop 458 and Pack 457 had a great time giving back during Save Our Waters Week! 🌊
Our Scouts joined the Coastal Cleanup Event along the Withlacoochee River and collected an incredible 60 pounds of trash!
It was a great day of teamwork, service, and taking care of the beautiful waterways in our community. Way to go, Scouts! ⚜️

Merit Badges Are a Big Part of the Scouting Adventure!
We probably don't talk about it enough, but one of the great opportunities Scouts have is the ability to work independently on merit badges and explore subjects that interest them.

Merit badges aren't just about checking another box on the path to advancement. They give Scouts a chance to learn something new, develop skills, meet experienced adults in different fields, and discover interests they may carry with them long after Scouting.
One great resource for our Scouts is MOSI in Tampa, which offers a terrific lineup of merit badge programs throughout the year. Their programs are led by experienced, knowledgeable, and engaging BSA-registered merit badge counselors and include everything from 3- and 4-hour workshops to 5-hour programs.

Program fees include supplies for hands-on activities, a digital workbook, a blank Blue Card, and admission to MOSI following the program.
A few things to know:
• Scouts under 13 must have a registered adult chaperone.
• Chaperones must be at least 18 years old.

If your Scout has a particular interest, don't wait for the troop to offer that merit badge. Talk with a leader, find a counselor, and start working on it!

What a great weekend of camping, service and giving back to our community!

Troop 457 was joined by Cub Scout Pack 457 Saturday morning as we participated in the Save Our Waters Week Coastal & Lakes Cleanup. There’s something special about giving back to the community we call home, and doing it together with our Cub Scouts while helping protect our local environment made the morning even better.

After the cleanup, the troop spent the rest of the weekend camping, enjoying the outdoors, and spending time together.

The only thing we could have done without? The colossal number of mosquitoes! 🦟😂

Twenty-five years ago today, our nation experienced a day that changed us forever.

We remember the nearly 3,000 people who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. We remember the families who lost loved ones, the first responders who ran toward danger, and the countless people whose lives were forever changed by what happened that day.

For the Scouts in our program today, September 11 is history. They were not yet born and cannot remember the images, the uncertainty, and the incredible sense of loss that our country experienced.

But one of the important things we can do as Scout leaders is help ensure that history is not forgotten.

Through Scouting, we teach young people about service, sacrifice, courage, duty and caring for others. We hope those lessons help them understand not only what happened on September 11, but also the profound impact it had on families, communities, and our nation.

Today, Troop 457 pauses to remember those who were lost, those who served, and those who continue to carry the weight of that day.

We remember. We honor. We will never forget.

What did you do this morning? 🚨

Troop 457 spent the morning volunteering alongside Citrus County CERT as “victims” in their mass casualty training exercise.

Our Scouts had a great time, and got a firsthand look at how the skills they learn through Scouting can be put to use in a real emergency. It was a great opportunity to learn, serve, and see some incredible emergency-response work up close.

A huge THANK YOU to the CERT team for including Troop 457 and for the amazing work they do to prepare our community. We’re proud to serve alongside you and look forward to our next opportunity to help!

🚨 Volunteers Needed! CERT Mass Casualty Training

Scout Troop 457 will be participating this Saturday as volunteers in a Citrus County Sheriff’s Office CERT Mass Casualty Training Event, and we can use even more Scout and adult volunteers!

This is a great opportunity for both youth and adults to participate in an important community emergency-preparedness exercise and help our local first responders train for a large-scale emergency.

⏰ Arrive: 8:45 AM — Event begins at 9:00 AM
📍 Meeting Location: Behind the Sheriff’s EOC
3549 Saunders Way, Lecanto, FL 34461
👉 Look for the flag by the road.

What to Wear & Bring
👖 Pants — comfortable and appropriate for outdoor activity
👟 Older sneakers or boots — expect to get dirty
👕 T-shirt that you don't mind getting dirty
💧 Water bottle
🦟 Bug spray
☀️ Be prepared to spend time outdoors

If you're available and you have not yet told your Patrol Leader, please join us! The more volunteers we have, the more realistic and valuable the training will be for our emergency responders.
