Alliance for Felix Cove advocates for the protection and restoration of the last remaining 19th century Coast Miwok-built home at Point Reyes National Seashore and to honor the lives of the Coast Miwok (Tamalko) Felix Family. Vision:
Establish a living history center and garden that teaches visitors about how the Felix Family lived sustainably on Tomales Bay and how visitors can learn to live with nature by developing an awareness of Indigenous ecological knowledge and practices.

Our founder, Theresa Harlan, will be a featured presenter at the International Center for MultiGenerational Legacies of Trauma’s upcoming webinar!
Held the day after Indigenous Peoples’ Day (October 12th), this session brings together presenters from the New Mexico pueblos and the California and Oregon coastal tribes. Listen in to the conversation exploring the past and ongoing traumatic experiences of American Indigenous relatives. They will share tribal trauma histories, their intergenerational consequences, and the rematriation movement to heal and protect future generations.

We belong to the land.
We belong to Tamal-liwa.
We belong to Felix Cove.

It is home.
Since time immemorial, Támal-ko/Coast Miwok relatives have lived in deep relationship with the west shores of Tamal-liwa (Tomales Bay). At Alliance for Felix Cove, that relationship guides everything we do.

Our vision is clear: returning stewardship of Tamal-liwa to Coast Miwok/Támal-ko hands. When we do, our ancestors' abundance can return.

With open hearts, we welcome working alongside anyone and everyone, including the National Park Service and the Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria, who share that the land has a story to tell and seek to honor the land our ancestors cared for from time immemorial.

We will continue to champion our vision of Felix Cove centering ancestral wisdom, culture, and community.

Grantee partner Alliance For Felix Cove has created a beautiful dedication song for their ancestral home waters—a healing meditation created from ancestor voices carried through ceremony in the winds and waves to their descendants.

“Our song represents our beliefs in ancestral guidance rooted in our relationship with the land, water and living beings. As medicine, ‘Tamal Liwa’ is a call to and from our ancestors to our relatives and all future generations to come home. We dedicate it to the ‘Tomales Bay Indians’ who once lived and fished on Tamal Liwa—the descendants of nearly 800 generations of Támal-ko People. Come back.”

🍂 This Fall Equinox at Felix Cove, we debuted a healing song medicine for our ancestral home waters and honored the artist who made it possible. 🌊

During the Autumn Equinox, we notice the changes in our plant and animal relatives. Summer blooms give way to seeds. California Bay Laurel trees are filled with nuts. Summer bay winds are quieter. These changes are markers, the same markers our ancestors observed.

"Tamal Liwa” was created from ancestor voices carried in the winds and waves to their descendants. This song exists because Relatives answered their call. Theresa Harlan's poem became the lyrics. Jasha Lyons Echo spoken word tells the power of love from one generation and the return of that love from their sons and daughters. Jeffer Giang's, acoustic guitar melodies carry the rhythms of the bay.Voices of Elissa Simons and Bernadette Smith carry ancestral calls. Desirae Harp's powerful voice is a vision of the future. Aja Couchois Duncan, whose drum keeps the heartbeat. Tenderly produced by Tiśina Parker, and ARWN.

We’re Still Here.
For us at Alliance for Felix Cove, we know that, since time immemorial, Támal-ko/Coast Miwok relatives have lived in deep relationship to the land we know as the west shores of Tamal liwa (Tomales Bay).

For 59 years, on the fourth Friday of September, California leads a statewide opportunity to honor Indigenous peoples’ resilience and historic contributions to what is now California.

For our relatives across California, these lands hold our creation stories.

Our celebrations are each day we live to tell our stories, stand with one another as we work and assert efforts to rematriate ancestral lands and bring nuturing care to our Mother Earth. Join us in celebrating California Indigenous peoples and their ongoing efforts toward truth, justice and rematriation.

This California Native American Day, join us in celebrating California Indigenous peoples and the ongoing movement to restore Indigenous lands to Indigenous hands. From Tamal Húye, Point Reyes Peninsula, to every corner of this state, Native California endures and thrives. 🌊
