Carol Grim Shares Iceland Adventure

On Wednesday, September 10, longtime Rotarian Carol Grim presented on her second trip to Iceland. This time, she joined a University of Minnesota program focused on fabric arts and Icelandic yarn production. As a weaver, Carol brought a unique perspective to the experience and has shared her passion for fiber arts locally with campers at Ogichi Daa Kwe.

Welcoming New Students to Our Community

On September 4 and 11, the Rotary Club of International Falls, in partnership with the Rainy River Campus of Minnesota North College and the Episcopal Church of Minnesota, hosted welcome socials at Thunderbird Resort.

50 new students attended
- Students came from across the U.S. (Hawaii, Arizona, Washington, Texas, Missouri, and more)
- International students arrived from Canada, Türkiye, Italy, and the Netherlands

Each student received a resource bag filled with gifts and information from local businesses and organizations—thank you to all who contributed!

Rotary is also helping launch a Community Connector Program to create future welcoming opportunities and provide ongoing support to new students.

The Rotary Club of International Falls is proud to announce the launch of a $60,000 Community Impact Grant, aimed at supporting a visionary project that creates a new, inclusive, and accessible space for youth and the broader community.

This grant opportunity is made possible through funds originally raised for a local spray park initiative. While the original project faced challenges—including site selection, long-term maintenance costs, and changes in city leadership—the Rotary Club has safeguarded the funds in trust, committed to reinvesting them in a meaningful community endeavor.

The grant includes:
$5,000 from Rotary Club funds
$5,000 from Rotary District 5580
$50,000 raised by community donors

The Community Impact Grant seeks to fund a project that:
* Provides a physically accessible and inclusive space for youth
* Encourages active and educational engagement
* Is usable year-round
* Addresses a gap in existing community infrastructure

Eligibility - applicants must:
* Be a registered non-profit, governmental, or community organization/business
* Operate within International Falls or surrounding areas
* Demonstrate capacity to complete the project within 24 months
* Align with Rotary’s values of service above self, community growth, and youth empowerment

Application Details
* Deadline to Apply: November 1, 2025
* Award Notification: December 30, 2025

Applications will be evaluated based on alignment with grant objectives, community need and impact, feasibility, creativity, and budget clarity. Bonus points will be awarded for projects that secure matching or outside funding.
