WHY OGICHI WEDNESDAY with camper, Kendall Quackenbush!

“I chose the summer camp Ogichi Daa Kwe in International Falls, Minnesota 5 years ago, because many people from International Falls, where our lake house is, recommended it to me. They spoke highly of the camp’s environment and the experiences they and their daughters had there, which made me curious and excited to be part of it. Hearing positive stories from people I trust gave me confidence that this camp would be a great fit for me.

The camp is well-known for its strong women’s program, which is something I really value. It focuses on building leadership skills, confidence, and resilience in girls, which are important qualities for me to develop. I believe that being part of this program will help me become a stronger and more independent person later on.

Overall, the combination of strong recommendations, inspiring role models, a powerful women’s program, and the beautiful location all made Ogichi Daa Kwe the best choice for my summer camp experience. I’m excited to continue going and see how it helps me grow into a confident and capable young woman.”

Camp continued to grow beautifully in 2015. New campus additions, including the staff recreation cabin, Grady Sanford Trips Center, Elder Ridge staff quad, and married staff cabin, were completed. Rainy Lake Lodge came down, and in its place at the center of campus now stands the new Council Ring. Landscaping around the buildings and gates, along with narrowing the road entrance into a walking path, added the finishing touches to the vision of a private mainland base campus for the girls. Tim Wilson joined us during pre-season and worked with the LDACs and staff to create Ogichi’s garden.
