The Huron-Manistee National Forests is urging anglers, kayakers, and paddlers to avoid the Pine River this weekend due to a massive and dangerous logjam between Peterson’s Bridge and Low Bridge River Access. Additional logjams have also been reported near Dobson Bridge, increasing hazards in these already swift-moving waters.

• Fast-moving water through debris can trap people and gear, raising drowning risks.
• Shifting currents can cause severe erosion and unstable riverbanks.
• Debris can block bridges and culverts, increasing flood dangers and damaging roads.
• Portaging around obstructions may be difficult—or impossible.
• Water speeds may be much stronger than normal.
• Hidden submerged debris could puncture canoes or kayaks.

This botanical print is from the Wild Flowers of Orchard Hill Farm Collection by Eveline Ritchie. Evelyn was a school teacher in Marilla Township from 1929-1932 when she lived at Orchard Hill Farm. She meticulously drew and hand colored the native plants from her farm in these lovely prints now available for you to own.
