Retired Trustee Sherri Poulisse
Sherri resigned from the township board. We would like to thank her for her many years of service to the community and to the board. We wish her well!
Meet Trustee Jim Brouwer
Inland Township welcomes Jim Brouwer as its new Trustee. Many of you got to know him a few years back while preventing the opening of a local gravel pit.
Jim married into a family that has enjoyed summers in Benzie County since 1905. He and his late wife moved to Benzie County full-time in 2005 and to Inland Township in 2007 after living in Milwaukee, Boston, and Cincinnati. His Michigan roots actually date back to the 1880s when his great grandfather immigrated to Grand Haven.
When asked why they chose a home in Inland Township, he replied “We love this area and Inland has that perfect mix; rural but within reach of anything.” He added, “As a trustee, I recognize that Inland Township is growing, but I don’t want to see it become ‘citified’ and loose those qualities that attracted all of us here in the first place.”
One of his first duties as a Trustee is to form an ad hoc committee to explore how we can improve our township’s website. There is a meeting at 6:00 p.m. in the Township Hall on Thursday, January 4th to do just that. You are invited to contribute suggestions and share your thoughts. Jim says if you can’t make that meeting, he’d still like to hear your suggestions. You can reach him by phone at 231-360-5602 or by email at [email protected].
The Events Committee continues to host Hymn Sing, Zumba at Yoga at the Bendon Hall.
