The burn ban has been lifted; however, conditions across our area are still very dry. The Interlachen Area Volunteer Fire Department would like to remind everyone to use EXTREME CAUTION when conducting any outdoor burning.

Please follow all guidelines and regulations set by the Florida Forest Service, including:

🔥 Never leave a fire unattended
🔥 Keep a water source and tools nearby
🔥 Avoid burning on windy days
🔥 Clear vegetation and debris around burn piles
🔥 Do not burn prohibited materials
🔥 Make sure fires are completely extinguished before leaving the area

Let’s all do our part to keep our community safe. Thank you for helping protect Interlachen and the surrounding areas.

🔥BURN BAN LIFTED🔥
May 26, 2026

Upon recommendation and discussion with Florida Forest Service and Putnam County Fire Rescue, the unincorporated Putnam County burn ban is lifted.
There is still a burn ban in place for the Town of Pomona Park.

We urge citizens to take precautions when burning. Under state law, only vegetation is allowed to be burned , so no cardboard, trash, etc.
Make sure the area surrounding the burn area is clear of debris, burn away from buildings, ensure the is plenty of water on hand, and completely extinguish all embers and ashes when leaving the fire unattended.

🇺🇸 Memorial Day 🇺🇸

Today, the Interlachen Area Volunteer Fire Department pauses to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.

Their courage, dedication, and sacrifice gave us the freedoms we enjoy every day. While many spend today with family and friends, we ask everyone to also take a moment to reflect on the true meaning of Memorial Day and remember those who never made it home.

From our fire department family to yours, we thank all who served and especially honor those who gave everything for our nation.
