It was an honor to be invited back to speak to the 7th & 8th grade football teams at Boiling Springs Middle School after their practice.
“Our brain is teflon for the positive and velcro for the negative”
Our words carry weight in the way we interact with others and the way they have the ability to impact them either positively or negatively.
From a psychological perspective it takes 7 positive comments to balance every negative comment. Middle and High school years can be some hard years and most interactions that kids have with each other are short ones. The challenge for these guys was; when we interact with others, do you leave them feeling encouraged or discouraged based on your words. Once words come out of your mouth or you hit send on a text there’s no backspace or take backs. Think and process what’s about to come out of your mouth or what you’re about to send before saying it or sending it as it’s a reflection of your character and where your heart is.
Romans 12:10: “Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another ABOVE YOURSELVES.”
Philippians 2:3: “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others ABOVE YOURSELVES.”
Luke 6:31: “Do to others as you would have them do to you.”
