Inertia experiments are even cooler in slow-mo! 🙌🏻✨

Ever wondered how this classic dining room magic trick actually works? Spoiler alert: it’s not magic—it’s Newton’s First Law of Motion! 🍽️

Thanks to inertia, the plates want to stay at rest. When the tablecloth is pulled quickly, there’s very little time for friction to move the plates, so they stay almost perfectly in place while the tablecloth slides right out from underneath them!

Pretty cool, right? Turns out physics is useful after all! 😉🔬

Our high schoolers taking physics did some magic tricks today to prove inertia in Newton’s first law. They took turns Flicking a stack of Pennies and flicking an index card on top of a cup to prove that an object at rest stays at rest unless acted upon by another force.

Quarter 2 started and we’ve added a new elective feature: art therapy! Today the elementary students learned about color psychology. Then they created a name collage using the colors with emotions they commonly feel! 🔴🟠🟡🟢🔵🟣⚫️

In our executive functioning class, we have been talking a lot about how Screen Time makes most executive functioning harder. Here’s a great poster from social work toolbox,  a website with lots of great resources, that outlines how screen time makes emotional control much harder to manage.

At Exodus Academy  we value minimal screen time and try our best to promote play and an “old-fashioned childhood” 🙌🏻
