McKnight Ministries

McKnight Ministries McKnight Ministries seeks to encourage and equip believers to engage each generation for Jesus.

McKnight ministries helps men become Kingdom warriors through our 144:1 ministry arm. We provide resources for Christians and churches through Kingdom Publications. We help to equip church leaders in South Carolina to lead their churches well through the Palmetto Leader Network. We offer scholarships to help students and student ministers travel on faith-based tours through Kingdom Journeys.

I use this book as a text for my graduate-level Evangelism and Church Health class at Anderson University.

It delineates the following illnesses that can kill churches:

1. Slow erosion.
2. The past is hero.
3. The church refused to look like the community.
4. The budget moved inwardly.
5. The Great Commission becomes the Great Omission.
6. The preference-driven church.
7. Pastoral tenure decreases.
8. The church rarely prayed together.
9. The church had no clear purpose.
10. The church obsessed over the facilities.

As a pastor shepherding churches through revitalization, an interim pastor, and a church health consultant, I've seen churches identify and address these illnesses in their congregations. They improved their health and experienced healthy growth.

On the other hand, I've seen churches refuse to accept the fact that they were sick and refuse to make the appropriate changes to become healthy.

It's just like going to the doctor. He or she can tell a patient they have a health issue that needs to be addressed. It's up to the patient to make the appropriate changes in his/her life to become more healthy.

If you would like help engaging the next generation, you can take a look at my book.

I wrote it for youth leaders, pastors, and parents who want to engage the next generation with the gospel and the Word of God.

"For God and Country"

This is the motto of the United States Army Chaplain Corps.

The motto is intentional, reminding Army chaplains they serve God first and their country second.

As a veteran and former Army infantry chaplain, I would humbly suggest to my fellow pastors that this motto suggests how we can love both without making our country an idol.

BTW, also, remember every time that you preach and lead your people in worship, some American service member is protecting your First Amendment right of freedom of religious expression.

"Therefore let anyone who thinks that he stands take heed lest he fall." (1 Corinthians 10:12ESV)

This verse and the quote below are timely reminders to daily put on the full armor of God and stand in HIs strength.

"For since, in the wisdom of God, the world did not know God through wisdom, it pleased God through the folly of what we preach to save those who believe. For Jews demand signs and Greeks seek wisdom, but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and folly to Gentiles, but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. For the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men." (1 Corinthians 1:21-25 ESV)

The good news we bear as Christ-followers is not about us. It is the good news of Jesus Christ.

We should point people to Jesus in our conversations and sermons.

Jesus did not leave the throne of heaven to die on the cross so that we could build our own kingdoms. He bore the Father's wrath so that He could establish His Kingdom.

Preach Christ!

"So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God."
1 Corinthians 10:31 ESV

Is God's glory your ultimate goal?

Is pointing people to Him your aim?

Let's do all things for God's glory.
