was chartered on December 19, 1959. Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is a private, non-profit organization whose purpose is to provide
assistance and support through established programs in local communities throughout
the world. Founded on January 13, 1913 by twenty-two collegiate women at Howard University, the
Sorority is currently a sisterhood of more than 200,000 predominately Black college e

ducated
women. This includes over 900 chapters located in the United States, England, Japan (Tokyo
and Okinawa), Germany, the Virgin Islands, Bermuda, the Bahamas, and the Republic of Korea. The major programs of the sorority are based upon the organization’s Five Point Programmatic

Books, blankets, and bright futures! 📚🧸✨
On March 7, the Inkster Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. proudly hosted our Books & Blankets Literacy Expo. Families from across the community joined us for a day dedicated to nurturing a love for reading and supporting early literacy for children.
From free books and cozy blankets to engaging activities and valuable literacy resources, the day was all about empowering our youngest learners and the families who support them.
Thank you to everyone who came out and helped make this event a success. Together, we’re building stronger readers and brighter futures—one book at a time. ❤️📖
