It is that time of year when Ingram Tom Moore High School seniors are joyfully thinking of graduation and making plans for the future. West Kerr Community Scholarships wants to encourage seniors to apply for scholarships to help make their future even brighter.
WKCS offers vocational-technical or college scholarships to students that are attending an accredited school. Applications for the 2 scholarships are on the Counselor’s Page on the Ingram Tom Moore High School website. All applications are due in the counselor’s office by 12 PM, Friday April 3rd, 2026.
As you know, higher education costs have continued to increase. We encourage students to pursue a number of areas to help fund their college career.
Fill out the FAFSA form (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) which is found online. You may qualify for grant money which does not need to be repaid.
Apply for other scholarships that are on the high school counselor’s webpage.
Check with local businesses and non-profits. Several of them offer scholarships.
After you have been accepted to a school, ask their financial aid office for any assistance they may offer. Colleges are competing for students.
Consider a part-time job, especially after you have gotten used to the school routine.
We know that not everyone is interested in attending trade school or college after graduation, but studies show that it does lead to higher lifetime earnings and greater job security, on average. We believe if a student wants to attend vocational-technical school or college he or she should be able to. Other folks gave us these opportunities and we want to do the same for our young people.
A tremendous thank you to the many Kerr County citizens and businesses that have supported us since 1986. We are very grateful to have awarded almost $900,000 to over 300 West Kerr students since our beginning. We plan to continue to “pay it forward.”

WKCS extends deepest sympathy to the family of Wayne Este, who recently passed away. Wayne served on the WKCS Board for many years and was often the driving force behind the many fundraising events that allowed us to give scholarships to hundreds of Ingram Tom Moore High School seniors. The Galas, art shows, and antique shows were among the many events that Wayne initiated and chaired. He often said that to serve you needed to give of your "time, talent, and treasure." And he did. Two of Wayne's family members, his wife Pam and his son Matt, continue to serve on the Board, for which we are very grateful. Thank you, Wayne. You will be missed.

WKCS is proud to announce the two 2020 scholarship recipients: Eden Lambert and Clay Templeton.

Eden Lambert plans to attend Texas A&M University with a major in Agribusiness. After graduation, Eden would like to work within the legislative system to influence political decisions that will benefit people and the agricultural industry.

Eden hopes to “pay it forward” by volunteering at a hospital or senior center to “show gratitude to the generations that came before us and provided for us.” Her parents are Cindy and Jarrett Lambert of Hunt. Go Aggies!

Clay Templeton will attend Texas Tech University to major in the Animal Science/Pre-Vet program. Clay hopes to “pay it forward” by inspiring the next generation of agriculturalists just as he was by his teachers and other community members.

Clay stated he would like to be active in local and state stock shows and use his veterinarian skills to “enrich the lives of children just as others have done for me.” His parents are Monica and Bobby Templeton of Kerrville.

Congratulations to Eden and Clay!

WKCS Recipients Doing Good in the World!

Hi! My name is Rachelle Curtis. I graduated From Ingram Tom Moore High School in 2008 and was a recipient of your scholarship 📷

I have been an RN for 9 years now. I have worked in Hospital Administration for the last 6 years. I am currently the Director of the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU), Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU), and Telemetry Unit at Christus Santa Rosa New Braunfels.
I graduated Summa Cum Laude with my BSN.
I am currently completing my MBA and DNP in Family Practice at the University of Texas.

It has been very trying times especially in my position managing several teams and trying to manage their individual fears and anxieties during all this uncertainty. But everyone is hanging in there and has done a wonderful job. I start each day with a prayer for my team in the break room. God is always good.📷

Hope you all are doing well! God bless!
