Happy Juneteenth 🖤❤️💚
On June 19, 1865, enslaved people in Galveston, Texas learned they were free — two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation had been signed. That day became known as Juneteenth, and today it stands as a powerful symbol of freedom, resilience, and the ongoing pursuit of justice for Black Americans.
As Girl Scouts, we are called to make the world a better place for all people — and that starts with learning, listening, and honoring the history that has shaped our communities. Today, we celebrate Black joy, Black culture, and the trailblazers who fought for a more equitable world.
How will you and your troop be honoring Juneteenth today? Tell us in the comments below!
