At a school in Hawaii, Girl Scout Emma noticed classrooms felt stuffy and indoor air wasn’t as fresh as it could be. Wanting to make a difference, she designed and installed living wall gardens in three sixth-grade classrooms using air-purifying plants like golden pothos and Swedish ivy.🌿💚

Emma also created simple guides so students can help care for the plants and learn how they support cleaner air.

Now, those classrooms are greener, healthier, and full of hands-on learning.

Congrats to Gold Award Girl Scout Sahithi!

During a family trip to India, her father suffered a sudden heart attack and was rushed to the ICU. The experience left Sahithi not only afraid but frustrated by a healthcare system that felt impersonal and lacked transparency, leaving families without needed support.

As her father recovered, she realized many others shared similar experiences. Determined to help, she created her Gold Award project, “Ohio Cardiac Collective,” focused on heart health education and community support.

In partnership with her non-profit, Healthy Hearts of Ohio, Sahithi led community workshops, CPR/AED training sessions, and heart health presentations in collaboration with local and global organizations.
Through these combined efforts, the project inspired over 100 middle and high schools to pursue CPR certification and reached hundreds more through digital platforms and community outreach events.

The Ohio Cardiac Collective aims to encourage communities to prioritize preventative heart health and stress management. By fostering awareness and providing practical tools, the project seeks to reduce cardiac risks among young adults and promote long-term health education.

“I aspire to a physician who listens and cares. Through my experience I learned that healing starts only when a clinician can create connection to the patient with trust and empathy. My project reflects my passion to serve community by advocating with care.”

When a hurricane damaged a sensory trail used for equine therapy, one Girl Scout saw more than just what was broken. She saw the people who depended on that space to feel calm, connected, and supported, and she knew it had to be restored. 🐴✨

With determination and a whole lot of heart, Reese rolled up her sleeves and got to work. Through careful planning and teamwork, she helped bring the trail back to life, making it safe and welcoming again for those who need it most. Because of her, that trail is once again a place where confidence grows, healing happens, and small moments turn into big breakthroughs.

This is what it looks like to lead with compassion and turn it into real impact. Awesome job, Reese!
