Jayda, Kamille & Aniyah are now 20/21/20 years old. 💚They were some of the very first Girl Scouts to start in Troop 5215 as kinder & 1st graders.

In support of our sisters:

A year ago today Smart & Melanated Sis was born and immediately went viral! The nation needed this! It was absolutely signs of the times.

We were immediately asked to put everything on “HOLD” and then told we were violating intellectual property rights…even though we thought we were creating something amazing for the community under an umbrella that encouraged this type of creativity, ingenuity and entrepreneurial mindset. Guess we thought wrong.

After MULTIPLE meetings (Zooms) with the heads of the organization that has influenced us to be women of confidence, courage and character…our Melanated teen girls quickly learned many lessons of truth, business, ethics and what it REALLY means to be courageous and strong ! 💪🏾

In the blink of an eye we HAD to because Smart & Melanated LLC! 😉

We had to make a few minor changes but that didn’t stand in our way. (Pictured here our beautiful original booklets. All photographs were provided with full parental permission).

THOUSANDS of badges later, we have made our mark, teaching youth in over 40 states and 3 countries about the true meaning of and ‼️✊🏿✊🏾✊🏽✊🏼✊🏻

Wouldn't it be even MORE awesome if they had little Black girls from Inglewood create a badge series that teaches kids how to stand in and celebrates inclusion as well?

Oh wait, that did happen. But GSGLA acts like it didn't. -_-
