You know you want to see more! 😁 The Lake County Health Department Ecological Services team and our volunteers working at Long Lake on June 1st, 2026 to get these bad boys out of the lake.

A 2400 pound fish story! Utilizing an electrofishing boat (very cool 😎), the Lake County Health Department worked with our volunteers this past week to remove 1.2 tons of invasive carp!! Don't feel bad for the carp - these bottom feeding fish reduce water clarity and stir up phosphorus-containing sediments, which contributes to algae blooms. Less carp = a healthier lake 🙂
A HUGE thank-you to the LCHD and our amazing volunteers 💚

A BIG thank you to everyone who came out to help yesterday with our Long Lake Cleanup❣️ Because of our efforts, we were able to remove more than three truck loads of garbage from the lake and surrounding shores! Special shout-out to Grant Township Highway Department for hauling it all away :-) The day was a lot of fun and we are so grateful to everyone who was able to participate.

We hope to see everyone in the future at the next cleanup event!
