🌽🐖 | 4-H Roots at the Kentucky State Fair

In 1912, over 100 boys from across Kentucky gathered at the State Fairgrounds for the very first boys’ camp, a reward for excellence in club work. They slept in National Guard tents on straw beds and proudly brought their corn, poultry, pigs, and cattle to compete for prizes. 🏕️🐓🌽

This pioneering event, backed by the State Fair Board and Agricultural Extension leaders, laid the foundation for what would become a rich tradition of youth development and agricultural excellence.

By 1913, 4-H had its first educational exhibit at the fair, and judging contests soon followed—traditions that still thrive today!
