💙🧡 A Community Vision Becoming Reality
One of the most encouraging things we’ve known throughout this journey is that the idea of a splash pad isn’t new, it has been part of the City’s long-term vision for years.
As we’ve worked alongside city staff, park officials, community leaders, and local partners, we’ve spent countless hours reviewing plans, studying park needs, and learning about the future of recreation in our community. In doing so, we found that the City’s Parks & Recreation Master Plan specifically identified the addition of a splash pad as a community goal in 2018 and again in 2020 with targets for capital funding and completion by 2025, while also recognizing the need for more park amenities and park space to serve our growing population alongside new developments.
Rather than creating something separate from the City’s plans, our team is honored to help move the vision forward. The Children’s Memorial Splash Pad is an example of what can happen when passionate volunteers, local government, community organizations, donors, and residents work together toward a common, established goal.
This project has always been bigger than a splash pad. It’s about creating a lasting community amenity, expanding recreational opportunities and economic development for residents, local businesses and families of all types and abilities, while honoring children gone too soon, and helping address needs that have already been identified through years of planning.
We are grateful for the collaboration and support we’ve received from the City of Indianola, Warren County, local organizations, and community members. Together, we’re not just building a splash pad, we’re helping bring a long-standing community goal to life.
