🚗 Ride United: Free Lyft Rides for Essential Needs

United Way of Central Iowa is offering free Lyft rides to help residents of Polk, Dallas & Warren Counties get to essential services like:
• Medical appointments
• Job interviews & work
• Food pantries
• Housing & legal services
• School, daycare, library access

How it works:
1. Call 211 and ask for Ride United Central Iowa
2. 211 checks eligibility
3. A Lyft ride is dispatched if no other transportation is available

Recently the town lost a wonderful man, Max Morrison. Although I only met him once, I was honored to have met him. Gary had talked about him many times in our years together. We were blessed to have Mr. Morrison and his family involved through donations to the "Funny One Shoes" Memorial Fund set up through the Indianola Hope Foundation. Upon Mr. Morrison's passing, his family made an additional donation in his memory. It goes beyond words, how wonderfully kind his family was by continuing to help keep this Memorial Fund going in Gary's name. Thank you from myself and our family!

I would also like to take this opportunity to say Thank You to the many friends and family that continued to donate to this fund in Gary's name. Some I know of and others I do not, due to Indianola Hope Foundation's rules regarding privacy and I understand that, but please know how much it has meant and has touched my heart that we have continued to keep the fund active. It was always important to Gary that a new pair of shoes on the first day of school, lifts a child's confidence. He always made sure his son, Chad and our grandchildren had a new pair of shoes for school. So, Thank you, for your help in keeping this dream alive in making sure the children of Indianola start the 1st day of school with confidence. It is with a full heart, that I say that Gary is smiling down at all of us.

Thank you so much for your generosity and all the kind words that many have shared with me of the wonderful man, that Gary was and in his name and memory, continues to be.

We were fortunate enough to take part in an event supporting the Indianola HOPE Foundation a few weeks ago. If you haven’t checked them out yet, please do — they’re doing amazing work right here in our community.
