CTE Hope

CTE Hope CTE Hope is a non-profit organization dedicated to addressing the issues and research of traumatic brain injures and chronic traumatic encephalopathy.

We created CTE Hope in honor of 24-year old Zac Easter, a young man who took his life after living with and suffering from Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE) for six years. Zac loved football his whole life, but he asked his family and friends to devote their time and resources to make it safer by spreading awareness, designing a better return to play protocol, and providing support to athlete

s already suffering. We want to help prevent any one else from suffering the way he did by spreading awareness about CTE and by helping to promote and facilitate CTE research. We aim to provide support and hope to those who are already suffering from CTE symptoms. We want to enhance the information available to caregivers that supports when an athlete can safely return to play; to provide individuals and families with the right information so that the welfare of an athlete (or anyone suffering a head injury) comes first; to support research that identifies why some athletes are more susceptible to concussions than others; and to foster research that one day leads to the ability to identify CTE while victims are alive and to create treatment programs to give people with symptoms of CTE hope and help. The money raised through our organization will go directly towards these efforts.

“I ask anyone who ever has to read this to please help spread the word about how dangerous concussions are and to try and try to help support the effort to make football a safer sport. I’m sure someone out there will read this and realize that he has gone through some of the same similar s**t as me, for you whoever you are, I beg you to get help and don’t live the self-destructive life that I did. “ - Zac Easter

This is interesting. This makes me wonder if parents will be next? We know today that repeated head impacts cause these same neurological changes in a child's brain. As I prepare to celebrate Zac's birthday at the cemetery on June 2, I continue to ask why wasn't the information we have today available when he was young. We could have made different decisions. Now I'm asking all parents to make better decisions. You will be glad you did.

When we think of concussion litigation, we picture professional football and other major contact sports. Cases involving the NFL, NHL, and NCAA have helped reshape public understanding of repetitive brain trauma and its long-term health implications, which in turn has forced sports organizations to....

Rugby, football, heading in soccer, and any activity with repeated head impacts will alter your brain in a bad way. Grateful that others are sharing their experiences. Please pay attention to the facts, be strong, and make the right decisions for your children. You will be glad you did.

Spot on! Good information to make the right decisions for your kids! I wish we would have known.

Parents want to protect their kids. That’s what parents do. But they deserve honest information so they can make informed choices.

Children’s brains are still developing well into young adulthood. And while the brain can recover from injury in some ways, it never fully returns to exactly what it was before.

Every hit matters. Every collision. Every hard fall. When the head takes impact, the brain moves and stretches inside the skull. Over time, those repetitive hits can add up and may contribute to CTE — Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy.

Many people still think only major concussions are dangerous, but research continues to show that repetitive head impacts matter too. In one Mayo Clinic study, CTE was found in 32% of amateur collision sport athletes studied.

This conversation isn’t about fear. It’s about awareness, education, and protecting kids while they still have the chance.

This battle has to end! More and more families are becoming victims of CTE. My heart aches for this family. We do g really need more proof CTE exists. We need families to start protecting their children. Don't let them play youth football. Wait until at least age 14, but realize even then they are at a very high risk of brain damage which can ruin their adult lives. Don't think it won't happen to your child. It can.

In his final months, First Descents leader Ryan O’Donoghue told nearly a dozen doctors he felt like he was suffering from dementia

CTE myths that need to go!

The danger isn’t just the hits.
It’s the misinformation around them.

CTE doesn’t start in the pros.
Helmets don’t make it safe.
And it’s not just one hit—it’s hundreds over time.

The more people understand the truth,
the more we can protect the next generation.

Let’s change the conversation.

Help us spread awareness about this PREVENTABLE DISEASE!

This pretty much sums it up!

This pretty much sums it up!

Your child’s brain isn’t fully built yet—it’s still growing, still wiring, still becoming who they’re meant to be.

And every hit… even the ones that don’t look serious…
can quietly change that process.

CTE doesn’t come from one moment.
It comes from the moments we overlook.
The “they’re fine.”
The “shake it off.”
The seasons that add up.

This isn’t about fear—
it’s about awareness.
Because once the damage is done, we can’t undo it.

As parents, we have a choice:
✔ Ask the hard questions
✔ Pay attention to the subtle signs
✔ Put their future ahead of the pressure to perform

Because no game, no scholarship, no moment…
is worth their lifelong health.

Let’s protect them while we still can.

RIP

Another great reason why not to start your kids playing collision sports at an early age. The risk of getting CTE goes up 30% for every year they play from year 1. Most never make it to the NFL. Every life deserves better. Every child needs protected. Prevention is the only way. Please, please make the right decision. Your child will thank you later.❤️

It's almost unbearable knowing other individuals and families are going through what Zac and our family did. The only way to end CTE is to prevent it. Find safe activities for your children. You will be glad you did.

CTE doesn’t just affect the person diagnosed
it affects everyone who loves them.

The mood swings.
The memory loss.
The anger that feels unfamiliar.
The moments where they don’t seem like themselves.

It can be exhausting.
Confusing.
Heartbreaking.

But your presence matters more than you think. Be patient when it’s hard. Be steady when things feel unpredictable. Remind them again and again, they’re not alone.

Even on the days they push you away connection is what they need most.

Support them, but don’t forget to take care of yourself too.

I don't how much more data you need before you realize that playing youth collision sports like youth football before age 14 isn't worth the risk. Parents please don't cave to your kids begging to play. You won't regret it.

🧠Youth tackle football athletes had 15 times more head impacts than flag football athletes during a practice or game.

A CDC study published in Sports Health found that youth tackle football athletes ages 6 to 14 sustained 15 times more head impacts than flag football athletes during a practice or game. Tackle football athletes also sustained 23 times more high-magnitude head impacts (hard head impacts) than flag football athletes during a practice or game. cdc.gov/HEADSUP

Tackle football before age 14 is not worth the risk. Let’s keep kids safe and give their brains time to grow.
