If you experience sexual violence on a college campus, you are not alone. You have options. ICESA can help you understand those options and connect you with r**e crisis centers, healthcare, counseling and other support in communities across Indiana. The decisions are yours to make, and support is available when you are ready.
If you choose to report your assault, you can report to your school’s Title IX office, to law enforcement or both. The decision is yours.
Reporting to your Title IX Office
The primary purpose of a Title IX report is to address sex-based discrimination/sexual harassment in an educational setting. It allows students access to accommodations and could have potential consequences such as a no-contact orders, housing/class changes, suspension, expulsion, other school sanctions/remedies.
Reporting to Law Enforcement
The primary purpose of a law enforcement report is to open an investigation to determine whether a crime occurred and whether criminal charges will be filed. Through the criminal-legal process, law enforcement and prosecutors make determinations about arrest and charges that could result in criminal sentences.
You also can receive support in the community. Here’s how you can access our R**e Crisis Centers
A R**e Crisis Center is a community-based, non-profit agency that provides advocacy and support services to victims of sexual violence. A R**e Crisis Center may be co-located with a domestic violence shelter, or another social service organization. All R**e Crisis Centers have one focus: supporting survivors and eradicating sexual violence.
