Recently, at our IDOC Putnamville Correctional Facility, something truly special happened…

Our Fatherhood Celebration brought together 10 dads, 13 caregivers, and 20 children for a day filled with emotion, connection, smiles, and meaningful moments of bonding.

Some reunions were YEARS in the making:
♥️ One father hadn’t seen his children in 9 years
♥️ For another father, it has been 7 years
♥️ One dad was reunited with his 4-year-old for the first time since they were just 7 months old.

These weren’t just visits…they were powerful steps forward in rebuilding relationships.

With our “MVP” theme, we encouraged each dad to see himself as Most Valuable — not just on this day, but in the lives of their children. And they showed up exactly that way.

One of the most touching moments was our affirmation craft, where dads wrote messages of love and encouragement to their children, and children did the same for their dads. Words that will last far beyond the day.

A HUGE shout-out to our event coordinator, Cora Butler, for creating a fresh vision and making it come to life! Families traveled from as far as Illinois to be part of this celebration, which is proof of just how important these moments are.

We’re grateful to everyone who made this day possible and proud to support opportunities that strengthen families, restore connections, and remind every dad that they matter.

This is more than just a round of golf. ❤️

More than 2.7 million children in the U.S. have a parent behind bars, and those children are up to 6x more likely to follow the same path.

Reconnecting fathers with their children can help break that cycle, and this is exactly what our golf outing will help support.
Every registration, every sponsorship, and every swing helps make a difference.

Be part of something bigger than the game: be a sponsor to not only join this important cause, but also have a day of FUN!

The focus of our connection events will always be reuniting children with their dads. 🫶🏾

But it’s the details that make the experience truly unforgettable.
From thoughtful decorations to hands-on crafts, from special giveaways to essentials like backpacks—every element is designed with care. These aren’t just extras… they’re part of creating a space where families feel celebrated, supported, and seen. ❤️

And long after the event ends, those small details become lasting memories they can take home.

Not every powerful moment is loud.

At our family connection events, there are decorations, activities, and plenty of joy—but some of the most meaningful moments are the quiet ones. A long-awaited hug. Arms to fall into. The safety and comfort of seeing Dad again.

These are the moments that stay with you. The ones that remind us why this work matters. ❤️

J’Mon connected with the YYY program in 2024 at IDOC Putnamville Correctional Facility , showing a strong commitment to becoming the father his children deserve. He was an active participant, embracing every opportunity to grow and reflect on what it means to show up as a dad.

Now home, J’Mon is putting those lessons into practice every day and recently reflected on his journey, what he’s learned, and what fatherhood looks like for him today…

When incarceration impacts a family, the effects don’t stop at the individual…it ripples through relationships, households, and entire communities.

That’s why support matters.
That’s why resources matter.

At YYY, we help families reconnect, heal, and rebuild the relationships that matter most.
