Join us for the Tuesday morning meeting for guest speakers, Navy Counselor First Class, Khalifa Agbakwuru and Staff Sergeant Jaqaris Henderson. They will be speaking with us about the Toys for Tots Programs and their Annual Impact.
Khalifa Agbakwuru is a Navy Counselor First Class in the United States Navy, currently serving as a Command Career Counselor at Navy Reserve Center Indianapolis. He leads, trains, and mentors a 12-member Career Development Team that supports more than 380 Sailors across 11 units. His work focuses on Sailor development, career management, retention, readiness, and connecting service members with opportunities that support their personal and professional goals.
Khalifa also serves as the Command Fitness Leader, First Class Petty Officer Association Vice President, and Toys for Tots Outreach Coordinator. He is committed to strengthening the connection between the Navy and the local community through volunteer service, mentorship, and family-support initiatives.
Staff Sergeant Jaqaris Henderson is originally from Charlotte, North Carolina, and has served on active duty in the United States Marine Corps for 10 years. He works in the logistics field, where teamwork, organization, problem-solving, and leadership are a part of what he does every day.
In addition to his Marine Corps service, SSgt Henderson serves as the Central Indiana Toys for Tots Coordinator, giving him the opportunity to connect with and serve children and families throughout the community. He believes that leadership is not determined by your age, where you come from, or the title you hold. Leadership starts with the choices you make and how you treat the people around you.
His personal motto is, “Will you be affected by your environment, or will you affect your environment?” For young people, his message is simple: you may not be able to control everything around you, but you can control how you respond, the choices you make, and the positive impact you have on others.
