As temperatures rise and families spend more time outdoors, it is an important reminder to talk about everyday sun safety for children and teens ☀️

Helpful sunscreen tips to share with families include:
🧴 Choose broad-spectrum protection
🧴 Use SPF 30 or higher
🧴 Look for water-resistant options for swimming and outdoor play
🧴 Find a sunscreen that children are comfortable wearing regularly

For infants and children with sensitive skin, mineral sunscreens containing zinc oxide or titanium dioxide are often preferred. Remind families that sunscreen works best alongside other sun-safe habits like seeking shade, wearing protective clothing, hats, and sunglasses.
The Sun Protection Patient Perspectives handout is a helpful resource for patients and caregivers this and throughout the summer season. Download the handout in English or Spanish: https://tinyurl.com/fjw9ub82
