Everyone deserves to take pride in the work they do and the lives they lead. That’s why we support LGBTQ+ workers’ rights and advocate for a more equitable workplace. Happy Pride Month from AFSCME! 🏳️‍🌈

Union moms do it all: raise families, care for others and fight for dignity on the job. This Mother’s Day, we honor the working mothers who never stop showing up for their loved ones, coworkers and communities.

Irish Built, Kentucky Strong. Those were the words on signs and T-shirts as the St. Patrick's Day festivities kicked off in Louisville on Saturday. The weather cooperated, while members and staff of AFSCME Council 962 participated in the parade with an Organized Labor theme. Much candy was handed out to the enormous crowd as the marchers completed the 1.5+ mile course. Many thanks to the Ancient Order of Hibernians and all who participated.

On February 25th, staff members from AFSCME Council 962, in solidarity with members of Locals 4011 and 2629, marched on the Kentucky Capitol to meet with legislators for Lobby Day. They expressed many concerns, from requests to repeal the disaster that is Right to Work, to their desire to expand preschool access for students in the Commonwealth. During private meetings, they found legislators to be generally engaged and receptive. They even briefly met with Governor Bashear himself for an address and photo op. As workers continue to struggle to make ends meet in this economy, seeing members standing up publicly for workers' rights is encouraging.
